Yeah @Darkbulb and his incredible RAD should be short for Razor Radar! I'm going to have to find a way to get listed in his will!
Oh but comrade, a true communist recognizes that what belongs to one belongs to all. Come to think of it, that means that your Berkeley razor is my Berkeley razor. I will be looking for it in the mail by the end of the week.
Second day with the Berkeley Custom Shaver Continues to impress me. A very effortless and close shave. I played around with the settings and even though it is far from the Gillette Slim/Fatboy accuracy in dialing in your preference it actually does work really well. I settled on a "2.5" setting that gave me exactly the amount of aggressive feel I wanted. Result: Two passes and I had a great, smooth and close shave. Really enjoy the handle as well - much more so than I thought I would.
Last day of the week with the Berkeley. It's the biggest razor-surprise I've experience. This is truly a fantastic razor and I love everything about it - from the handle to the head. It even scored higher than the Pils 101NE! (Sorry @Slow Joe ). I guess sometimes a $5 razor can work better for you than a $170 one.... (Yes, highly subjective of course) I'll actually miss it as move on to other razors to try out....
Living in Jersey City, I HAD to have one of these. I bought it about a year ago (in black) but haven't used it yet. It just looks so good in that wooden box. Aside from that, I've been using an adjustable injector razor for some time now, and have given my DE's a vacation.
The power of the Darkbulb. When Darkbulb speaks the wet shaving world listens. A review from Darkbulb could make or break a razors reputation and cause huge swings in the perceived value of a razors. A case in point i went looking for one of these great razors and could only find one. The price was 10 times what Darkbulb paid for it. So. There are some razors I'd like to buy on the bay. If I send you a list of them can you give them some terrible reviews and depreciate the price? Being the classy guy I am I am willing to bribe with a bar of Arko.
Lol I doubt the point about the power very much I can't link to it here but there IS an ebay auction - ending tomorrow - for one that is at five bucks right now
I thought that larger handle would indeed feel a bit odd/awkward but I was really, really pleasantly surprised It fits very nicely in my hand:
I can't believe the prices these are selling for these days. There's one on the bay right now that is already at over forty bucks w/ 2 days+ to go and I've seen even higher than that in the past couple of months. There was one very nice burgundy one in box that sold for $25 at least. I guess the days of picking these up for 5-10 bucks are gone I still stand by what I wrote in the shave reports on this razor though - it's really, really good
Great find, even better knowing it shaves great. nice write-up by the way, kinda makes me want one even though I dont use DE's any more.
