Decent shave this morning but the blade should have been better. A couple of passes on pasted strop could have made a big difference. From decent to much, much better. Have a good one.

Thanks Jim. I agree that over 50mm will start to get floppy.

PRESHAVE: Face wash with soap and warm/hot water
RAZOR: ATT R2 plate with MR1 handle
    BLADE: Platinum Lux (new)
    SOAP: Mitchell's Wool Fat
    BOWL: VDH
    BRUSH: VDH Boar
POST: Rinse with warm/hot water to get soap off and then some cold water rinses/splashes and pat try. Apply Gentleman Jon Alum block and rinse/wash off after a minute or two!

Comments: Shave was very good and very close, I got a DFS with no problems and almost a BBS except just a spot on the neck! I decided to revisit the R2 again today since it has been awhile since I used it. It works very well but not quite as smooth/easy to use as the M2 plate or my H1 plate so I think I will move it along to someone that might enjoy it more. Soap was pretty good as I never tried MWF until today! The lather, protection and feel throughout the shave and the post shave feel was good. Again one weeper and just a bit of irritation based on the alum block. Overall a very good shave today!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV!

    Thx.

Last night I continued the Lord L6 kick. I had a ccs which is exactly what I was aiming for. Some days I'm not as interested in a super close shave as I am in a close but really comfortable shave.

    Last nights set up
    -Lord L6
    -Baili platinum blade (3)
    -stephan stay smooth brushless cream
-aftershave- a splash of clubman, a splash of Gabel's bay rum- aveeno fragrance free lotion.

The clubman and bay rum go well together, the bay rum feels so good on my face, at first you smell the bay rum but it is somewhat short lived, then the clubman scent starts to emerge and last for a good long time.

    Have a great weekend.

    Brush Focus: Day 15/30
Brush: WDC-2 High Mountain Badger, (Whipped Dog knot).22/65
Gillette Super Speed, Red Tip (1955- A-3)
    Gillette Platinum Blade (1)
    Bowl: KO Shave
    Soap: Jack's Soap
    AS: RE9 Post Shave Balm
    Old Spice Coffee Mug.(soak brush)
So far this is my favorite brush. This is good as it was my grandfather's which makes even more special. This brush loads a ton of lather and with adding a few drops of water along the way makes an easy three passes. No clean up required. I am narrowing down my brush for the next 2 week to only the one I like. I'll use them for more than one day.

    Brut Cologne :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:

Yes, that's right - you're not seeing things. I'll be using stuff without any menthol for this upcoming shave which I love. First of all, my Dorco blade croaked on me this morning so I've decided to switch to a Derby, which IMHO is a much better and longer-lasting performer. Next, the Stirling Barbershop is so much up my alley with its beautiful old-school scent, rich lather and brilliant post-shave care. The Brut aftershave is very soothing and protective and I enjoy its scent every now and then. Madame hates it, but hey - that's the way the cookie crumbles! ;) :D

    ZCOLDWATER1.jpg

    Dove Men Face Wash
    Proraso Green Shaving Soap
    Jayaruh WC1 Silvertip Badger
    Schick J2
    Personna Stainless
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Rose Petal WH
    Barbasol Brisk

The Proraso Green Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh WC1 Silvertip Badger brush. Two passes with my Schick J2 razor and a Personna Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Barbasol Brisk after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
