Yes I know. You guys hate canned goo, but I have yet to try traditional wet shaving. I was just wondering if any of you may have ever tried the Brut balancing shave cream. I am not a big fan of the Brut scent but the aloe and shea butter seems a good selling point. If anyone has ever tried it, please let me know how ya rate it.
I've never tried it, but at about $2.00 for an 11oz can, why don't you go for it! Then, let us know how you like it. According to Brut: Get a close, frictionless shave with the TRI-GUARD FORMULA found in BRUT balancing shave cream. Directions Shake well. Apply foam to wet skin and lather. Shave. Rinse and pat dry. For best results, complete your shave with BRUT Moisturizing After Shave Balm. Active Ingredients Water; Stearic Acid; Triethanolamine; Isobutane; Sodium Lauryl Sulfate; Laureth-23; Propane; Fragrance; Methylparaben; Mineral Oil (and) Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract; Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter); Lanolin
Well, that's gotta be the joke of the week :rofl triethanolamine: Eye irritant. Chronic exposure may lead to liver and kidney damage. Skin irritant - may cause dermatitis. (http://ptcl.chem.ox.ac.uk/MSDS/TR/triethanolamine.html) Sodium Lauryl Sulfate Originally a cleansing agent for GARAGE FLOORS! "it removes oils from the skin, and can cause skin and eye irritation." "SLS may cause a number of skin problems (for which the non-specific term is dermatitis), with some people being affected more than others." "SLS in toothpaste may cause aphthous ulcers, commonly referred to in some countries as "canker sores"." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_Lauryl_Sulfate) Laureth-23 (SLES): Less irritating but FAR more drying on the skin as Sodium Lauryl sulfate Methylparaben Preservative. Can cause allergies and asthmatic shocks Mineral Oil clogs the pores and therefore may cause acne Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract; Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter); Lanolin Those things are good stuff - but there's only trace amounts of 'em in the goo and they are just in there to fight the consequences of the "harmful" ingredients.
Joke of the week ? Think twice" I can take a lot of ingredients that are present in some traditional shave creams, google them, and find similar statements. For example, mineral oil doesn't clog my pores; it doesn't give me acne. If all of this was true, we would be dead, blind, impotent, etc....
Yeah...... I tend to agree but I'm lucky......if it dont killya, it makes ya stronger I totally abuse my body and yet I'm healthy as a horse. No allergies, ailments health-related issues and I can use almost anything and not be adversely affected by it. But. It's good to know exactly what is in the products we use so those of us who are a bit sensitive can be aware and act accordingly.
"Some" is the key word here. There are many products out there that work extremely well without all this junk, so why should I go out and buy the potentially "bad" stuff? If these ingredients are to be found in a product it's also a sign that the makers don't care about it's performance. It's supposed to look/smell good and has to be able to be manufatured for the least possible cost. That's not a product I wanna buy - I wanna buy products where THOUGHT has been put in the ingredients used and where the product is designed to actually benefit the buyer instead of (potentially) harming him. You know, we're just at the beginning of this development. The effects are long-term and I'd rather be safe than regret abusing my body with harmful chemicals in 40 years time But, hey, that's just me...
The Surgeon General has declared that: 1. Pregnant women and children under the age of 6 should consult with a physician before shaving with Brut shaving cream. 2. Do not operate farm machinery, chain saws and nuclear reactors after shaving with Brut canned shaving cream. 3. Shaving with Brut shaving cream in excess of 6 times a day has been known to cause cancer in lab rats. 4. Internal consumption of Brut shaving cream can cause a severe case of dog farts.
Also contains propane. If there was an open flame and the air/propane ratio was suitable for ignition then :angry021 !!!
I've not tried the Brut can o' goo, but the Brut aftershave balm is very, very nice indeed. It is every bit as good as the Nivea ASB, in my opinion.
Everyone has good points. As far as the cream goes, it actually shaved pretty decent. Now the aftershave balm is really nice, as iron maiden mentioned. I have been using it for the past few days and I am very pleased with it. I was expecting it to burn like hell beacause it has fragrance in it....but nothing. Nothing but cool and soothing to my skin. The scent is actually growing on me. Could be because I have been using it every night, even when I don't shave. I did indeed have one of the best shaves ever last night. I tried the 'Every Man Jack' sensitive skin gel. Not one cut and no irritation at all. My face has been smooth all day. Anyone else ever used that one? Please don't tell me it's got some flesh eating bacteria in the ingredients. My OCD has been bad enough this week. lol
