Frey's Day: Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger Soap: RazoRock Cumba Cheech croap Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC Blade: Baili Super Blue (1) Passes: WTG, XTG (1, 2) Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, RazoRock Cumba Cheech AS lotion Cologne: Jasmin et Cigarette by Etat Libre d' Orange The Bic had shown enough wear and tear that I decided to swap in a new blade. In a show of solidarity with Neal (@NCoxSTL) I took a deep breath and loaded up a Baili; he tried both the Bic and the Baili after a chat we had, so I feel vaguely responsible for his misery. Even with excellent lather from the RazoRock (I know there's at least one board member who says he has trouble lathering the RR, but that's just about impossible for me) and the excellent Bamboozled RAKE razor, the first pass was very tuggy on two days' growth. The XTG pass, on the other hand, was considerably better, resulting in a blood-free, irritation-free DFS shave. The Cumba Cheech lotion soothed any of the residual discomfort from the tugging, and the cologne pairs well with the croap/lotion scent.

5/22/2015 Frozen Friday! Prep: Hot shower with Neutrogena Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO Razor: Gillette 1903, Imperial Razor Warranted Barbers Favorite straight razor Blade: Pol Silver (5) Brush: Vie Long Horse Hair Soap: Chiseled Face - Cryogen After: Home made ASB, Osage Rube after shave Cologne: Midnight in Paris A 2 pass Darn Fine Shave on Frozen Friday. The Cryogen whipped up into a cold and thick lather. The lather was so cold that the second pass was almost painful. The 1903 and the Barbers Favorite took down the stubble with ease. The Osage Rub was barely felt because of the Cryogen being so cold and the Midnight in Paris will have me smelling good all day. Have a blessed day!

Neck = DFS. 1 weeper on fool's pass on ATG pass, and 1 weeper on neck doing touch up. The lather in the pic doesnt look very good because I took the pic after shaving. I took a long time shaving and enjoyed my shave! That Nag Champa scent transitions very nicely and smoothly with the post shave products I used. Hope all you have a great day.

May 22, 2015 (my dad's 90th BD! - why oh why did you let me leave home at 18 with an electric razor?!) "Tiger Facial Friday" 60 yo newbie’s intro to traditional shaving. (Day 4) Morning Hot Shower Pre-Shower Prep: Lucky Tiger Lemon Facial Cleansing Cream * Pre-Shave Prep: Proraso Pre Cream (Green) Menthol & Eucalyptus Razor: Gillette Tech “Fat Handle” Blade: Shark Super Stainless Brush: Omega Pro 48 Cream: Proraso Green New Formula Aftershave: Proraso Aftershave Splash In a lifetime full of carts and electric razors, I never bothered with pre-shave products. Just a can of goo, or 'lectric shave and I was off to the races. I learned about preshave oils from this site and experienced a remarkable difference when using it vs. just using the lather. *Additional searching led me to the TSD thread "Pre Shave Methodology" from 2007. Posts in the thread by member Fritz and TraderJoe led me to try to replicate their process this morning using the Lucky Tiger product. The result was very good. I can't say it was better than the preshave oil experience of the other day, but like anything else, experience and improved technique will clue me in at some point. (hopefully ;-) Using just a minimal amount of the LT, I worked it into my face, entered the warm shower, and at the end of the shower, began soaking my face with a hot towel, wringing it out and then repeating until the bulk of the cream was off my face. (About 3 minutes) I then did the Pre-Shave Prep (Proraso) and went right to the lather. I had three very good passes. Now this stuff looks like a container of lemon pudding, and today's GQ subscriber will be repulsed by what feels like a tub of grease! But I'm content to keep experimenting with this unless it begins to react horribly with my skin in some fashion, because it sure does lube the beard up for shaving. (not to mention, the $8. tub will probably last for the rest of my shaving days!) Respectful Memorial Day Weekend to all, - RT
