My courtship with the 1924 stunner continues. Again today's shave was finished with a minimum of effort in 1.75 passes for a very exceptional DFS/BBS. Sadly my scuttle has been shelved until I either get a new one or capitulate to face lathering. Face lathering has won - I just need to acknowledge it.

Face lathered with my homebrew soap and an Omega 20102 generously passed to me by a fellow wet shaver here in Adelaide. Great brush and holds plenty of lather.

Basically today 2 passes with a cold face shower between passes with a final cold water wash.
A splash of witch hazel and no cuts, scrapes, weepers or irritation.
My GEM blade was the 4th shave today and still feels wonderful. Very smooth.

Another fabulous shave this morning but I must admit the Derby blade is starting to slow down. The Glacial Lemon Chill soap gave me awesome lather and tons of menthol freeze!

    Prep: warm wash

    Brush: Omega 6214 silvertip
Razor: Gillette New SC and Weber PH
Blade: Rapira Lux (6 and 4)

The Rapira Lux blade in my New SC was on its 6th shave. After two passes it left a little stubble, so I grabbed the Weber with its blade having seen 3 head shaves. Finished up a DFS and the popped out the blades. Start fresh tomorrow.

    MAYhem & Mercy
    May 23, 2015
Prep - Hot shower and towel
    Brush - Omega Pro 48
    Soap - Arko
    Razor - EJ DE89L
    Blade - Flying Eagle.jpg (1)
    Post - Alum, Nivea Balm

The final blade. The blade that failed so miserably in MAYhem that it didn't even get a full shave. From either razor. Not even sure you could call it a blade then. So, let's load it in the EJ and see if it improves like all its brethren in Mercy phase. I lathered up with the Arko so we know I had a great, slick, cushiony base to work on. Lined it up, made a stroke..........and...........wait for it..........a little more..........oh who am I kidding. This thing wouldn't cut butter if it was heated and the butter was warm. The feel of the blade skipping over my face was just obnoxious. Pull, tug, drag, pull, is it cutting? Can't tell, pull, tug, drag. Sheesh. That was one stroke. Felt the path. Still as rough as when I started. Flipped it around and tried another stroke. Yeah, same thing. Put it in the RazoRock and found that only made it seem worse from the extra blade exposure. Nope, done. Finito. I know it's a carbon blade and I know they can feel rougher than stainless but every other carbon blade I've used was pretty good at cutting. This one is just a hopless dull piece of metal. Put the Sharp Star in the RazoRock and finished with a great near BBS.

The Flying Eagle. It takes skill and effort to make a blade that bad!

Thus concludes MAYhem and Mercy! I'm a week early since I changed the terms for Mercy. Four out of five blades passed Mercy, three of five MAYhem. I'll put together some final thoughts and post them later tonight. Work calls! Enjoy your Saturday.

Fantastic, 3 pass shave this morning. I really like the GEM FW. The Mystic Water Soap is a little finicky but with a little work I was rewarded with a great slick lather. The lavender scent was exceptional and paired well with the Myrsol Balsamica.

    Smooth result
I tried the FB on nine for the first pass on my cheeks today. It did not seem extra harsh, nor extra efficient. I did get three very late appearing weepers that I attribute to this pass, since I dialed down to five then three for the last two passes. My face is smooth and comfortable now, as is my neck, where I kept the setting at three. The Colonel whipped up Diamond easily, though I do have to load this brush much more than I load my HIS XL, despite the latter being a much larger brush. I finished with KFBR, which, despite the alcohol is quite calming and gives a good moisturized feeling.
