The arrival of my new Palmolive Menthol cream and Alt Innsbruck means that I can use these great products without fear of being left in the lurch, because there's a Canadian supplier for them which is Fendrihan's. The Palmolive Menthol is such a delightful cream - smells wonderful, lathers so easily, gives so much cooling freshness with terrific post-shave care. Every time I use the Gold Bond moisturizer, my skin feels cool and very well-soothed. I absolutely LOVE the scent of the Alt Innsbruck, and the menthol effect is powerful. My Derby blade is still doing a brilliant job - no complaints at all! :love055: ;) :D

Thank you Darkbulb for mentioning my digital painting. It's meticulously done, it takes awhile to finish each. I may go back to photos for awhile so I can get my SOTD out on time. Aces!

Now, once you get the technique down on it it's a great shave. That old aggressive feeling...straight razor in a stick!

How's the Williams working for ya? That was the first soap I ever used. Haven't tried it in forever though.

This morning in the SE shave rotation the 1924 stepped up to the whiskers for shave #7 on the current GEM blade. Thanks @maltedmilk. The 1924 gives an amazing sensation of the blade as it is cutting. 2 passes no blood and BBS. It is very difficult to have a favourite SE razor when they are all so good.
Soap Mine - Coconut Avocado blend Unscented.
    Turkish #6 - Face lathered.
Splash of Witch Hazel to finish.

    1924 - such a good year.

(Ymmv, I've used it literally three times)

It's not the easiest soap in the world to lather. Day one was face lathered, and the first lather dried up super fast on my skin. The key seems to be bowl lathering. Today I bloomed it with like a teaspoon of cool water as the brush soaked. Squeezing the water from the 48, loading the brush and then gradually adding water was what worked today. It seems as if letting the lather collapse for a minute or so, then reworking it, made it thicken up nicely. Williams feels ok on my skin, no issues so far.

I understand the rep this soap gets from some newer guys. VDH is way easier to work, and VDH was the first soap I tried as a newbie DE shaver. It seems like Williams is pretty much love/hate like forum fave Arko. It's price point may be tempting, but it's just too hard to work, smells too old school, and pales in comparison to common mass market soap like Arko, Proraso, et al. The savings just isn't worth it on Williams, at least not for me.

    Homemade PS Oil
    Vie-long Horsehair Brush
TSD Lavender & Rose Wheat SC
    '58 Gillette TV Special
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Barbasol Brisk AS

Not a great shave this morning. I used a Gillette Platinum blade, which I have not used a lot in the past. It didn't seem to work too well. The scent was great and the AS calmed things down a bit for me.

Palmolive Menthol cream rocks - smells, lathers, and feels so good. What an awesome chill it gives, and the Alt Innsbruck is a menthol delicacy with an awesome scent. What a wonderful BBS shave I had!

    Face and head shave
Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Shield Face Wash
    Razor: iKon Shavecraft 101
    Blade: Astra SP
    Brush: L'Occitane Plisson
    Lather: RazoRock Tobacco #2
    Post: Alum. Thayers Cucumber WH.
    Aftershave: WSP Tobacco
Nice shave. I like RR Tobacco #2 just a tad better over number #1. Nice and slick, easy to lather. WSP Tobacco is a subtle tobacco with bay leaf and fir. I'm not a smoker never have been, I do not find this combo offensive. Rather pleasant. The SC101 is a great razor.
A better tomorrow. Takes your best today!
