SoS: June 8, 2015 - June 14, 2015

It's been a while since I've used a cream, and this one performed rather well. The Endymion scent has a nice contrast between fresh and citrus top notes of bergamot and mandarin, and a warm base that smells masculine, and intriguing. I haven't smelled anything quite like it in a soap or cream. It took me a little bit to find the correct water ratio, but overall a nice performance. This is my other recent brush addition courtesy of @oscar11. The longer handles make bowl lathering a breeze. Have a good one gents.

In a blue mood this morning.
I got a puck of Oxford & Cambridge last Christmas and I put it in an Eton College tub that I had removed the labeling from. What a soap.
So that with my blue M&F L7 Blonde Badger brush, birth year and quarter Gillette Blue Tip SuperSpeed, A Gillette 7 O'Clock Russian Super Platinum, and even finished with my sample of Floid Blue aftershave. I go four passes instead of three when I use the Blue Tip and get a DFS. It's more about the mood and aesthetics guys. A good way to slide into the weekend. Hope everyone is well and happy.

 

SOTD 6-11-15

PRESHAVE: Face wash with soap and warm/hot water
RAZOR: iKon Deluxe closed comb with Bulldog handle
BLADE: Astra SP (new)
SOAP: Proraso Blue Tube
BOWL: Stainless steel
BRUSH: Perfecto Badger
POST: Rinse with warm/hot water to get soap off and then some cold water rinses/splashes and pat try.

Comments: The shave today was great! I started out with a two day growth as I didnt shave yesterday. The razor is more aggressive than the OSS model and took care of the two day growth like nothing and very smooth. This the first time using this iKon Deluxe razor and I like it alot. I like the fact that it is more aggressive than the OSS model and very smooth too! The Proraso blue cream was great and also my first time using it. It gave me a great lather with very good protection! No irritation or weepers! I ended up with a DFS in two passes and some minor touch up. I almost got a complete BBS except for one little spot on the neck area that I missed during my touchup so my fault! No complaints today at all!

Back to my old reliable, which is my 1950's Super Speed. This DE is definitely the best one for me because of its mildness and ease of use. With the Frozen Tundra soap, you get pretty close to the Glacial menthol power - oh yeah, this stuff is quite intense and I love everything about it from the unique, ice-cold scent which it has to the gentle, soothing post-shave feeling it gives me every time I use it. The Gold Bond is in a class by itself, not to mention the Penguin. I'm looking to get some more Derby blades because I really like them. They're absolutely fantastic.

It's a winner. Not sure what I am going to do when it's gone... Actually, I think I'll be ok. I have a puck of MWF that I have been curing in a vacuum seal bag with an ounce of Captain Black pipe tobacco. The opening and first shave (after the 90 day cure) will be tobacco Tuesday, July 7. The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Olivewood WD Silvertip Badger brush. Two passes with my Gillette Red Tip SuperSpeed razor and a Ladas Super Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Wow, you will have to report back how it worked out for you. Did you add any moisture to the pouch B4 sealing? I see you are another Pipe & Cigar fan. My go to tobacco shop.

My Paladin Pk-47 arrived today and cant wait to put it use tomorrow morning. I really like the feel of this handle in my hands and I compared this 26mm Blonde Badger with my M&F 26mm Blonde Badger and they look the same but since this one has not touched water yet it is a little stiff. The Marbled Butterscotch looks better in person than what the picture shows. Also on tap for its initial voyage is a Personna 74 courtesy of @JR Reyes in a trade conducted two months ago. Now I get the chance to see first hand if this blade lives up to all the hype like the Spoiler blades, which for me did live up to all the hype.

I noticed that a store not far from me has a small stock of wet shaving supplies so I picked up the T&H 1805. I have heard good things about it and the best way I can describe the scent would be like a nice modern cologne. great shave. 3 pass BBS. the menthol crystals in the bay rum add a nice touch of menthol. hope everyone has a great shave!
