You have a wonderful collection of vintage razors. I vote for The Unknowns as they are the most unique. However, I will enjoy following your posts regardless of the razors you choose. Have fun!

 

I want to see how the Swedes work out. I'll probably be outnumbered, but that is just what I would like to see.

It's 7:11am and I'm about to go and shave in a bit
Two 'razor couples' both have the same amount of votes;

I'll go with either of these two options that the next person says he prefers.

MEEHAN Shave report

So, this morning was the first shave with one of The Unknowns.
I picked the rather industrial looking "Meehan" from Germany.
Haven't seen much about it anywhere online so didn't know what I was getting in to here.

First challenge came with loading the blade. It looked like it would fit like normal...but for some reason I almost had to force the blade into the topcap as the fit was a bit off.
Once it was in there the head mounted fine and the blade was actually really well aligned.

Here's a macro shot of it using my $2 macro lens on my phone:


I proceeded with the shave.
Cella lathered up beautifully using my Rubberset 400 and it was time to put blade to face.
First thing noticed is that handle feels much too small for me - I like big handles a la Barbasol, @ShaneS ' Blackbird and Pils.

It's a rather aggressive razor. In the beginning I really did feel like I had to be a bit cautious when shaving.
Second pass I relaxed a bit - and got a small cut.

In the end - after my regular two passes (WTG and ATG) I was surprised with how clean shaven I was.
It might not be the smoothest razor out there and the handle is certainly too small for me - but from a pure performance perspective it really did deliver a clean shave in the end.
