    Razor: Mühle R89 "Twist" • Brush: H.I.S 1849 Synthetic

This was a very frosty shave indeed! I want to say thanks to our Meritorious Man of Menthol, Jeff (@crackstar). I saw the Stirling Glacial Wintergreen soap in one of Jeff's SOTD posts and decided to try it for myself. Glad I did! :) I love menthol and I love wintergreen. Incidentally, my most favorite Witch Hazel ever is TSDs own Winter Fresh with menthol. Awesome stuff. The brush you see is my new H.I.S 1849 synthetic brush which I got from Italian Barber. The loft on the brush is a bit shorter than the big H.I.S brush so it has a bit more backbone which is nice. I think it will be a winner. The Sterling soap worked well and left my skin feeling really nice. I was also pleasantly surprised by the Sterling aftershave balm. The razor is the Mühle R89 "Twist". And let me tell you... I am really starting to love this razor. I have the R89 and the R89 Grande and I find this razor to be the best of the group. I just resurrected my geofatboy chrome shaving bowl. I found the bowl to be perfect for the efficient use of new shaving soap samples.

All the best to everyone! Cheers, Lyndon

Great 3 pass near BBS work morning shave. About the best I can do during the week. The MdC whipped up a great lather and paired well with the Myrsol Balsamica.

    About 3 days growth...

    • '58 TV Super Speed
    • Astra Superior Platinum
    Aramis soap (1st pass)
    • Gillette Foamy w/menthol (2nd pass)

A wonderful, pleasant shave. Perfect BBS with no nicks or irritation whatsoever, but then Astra is always an excellent blade and the '58 is the best of the flare tips, imo.

Bulk removal with the Aramis followed with the lightly menthol Foamy was surprisingly nice. I think I'll do that more often.

Finished with Chiseled Face Sherlock. Not what I was expecting based on the scent description but I do like it. Very similar to one of my now-defunct favorites, Coty Wild Woods (very pipe tobacco-ish) and they'd complement it very well come fall/winter.

Prep: Hot facecloth followed by homemade lavender pre-shave oil
    Soap: Proraso White
    Razor: Gillette Tech “Fat Handle”
    Blade: Astra
    Brush: Omega Boar Bristle
Aftershave: Hot facecloth followed by Lavender Witch Hazel
    Aftershave balm: Shea butter

This morning I tried out my new antique store find…the Gillette Tech “Fat Handle”. I used an Astra blade and I found this produced a very nice close shave. This is a mild razor and does not feel aggressive in any way. I guess this is why they called these “Safety razors”. Overall it performed very well. No nick or weepers. The Proraso White was a nice pairing with this razor…the slight hint of menthol was pleasant, yet not overpowering. There is nothing more pleasant than finding a vintage razor in an antique shop and finding out it also gives a great shave. This one is a keeper…can’t wait to use it again. Again, the Badger Mustache Wax is also becoming a favourite.

Nice way to start the day…:chores016:

Well, my Goodfella/Derby duo cleaned me up quite smoothly. The Cryogen soap froze my face like crazy but again - all this talk about it being so unbearably-cold is just talk. It's only SLIGHTLY colder than the new Glacials. I also don't really enjoy it as much as them. Once I finish the Cryogen I won't bother with it again.

    6/17/15 - woolfatwednesday !!!

MWF with the Plisson. I usually use the same Boar Brush every time because I know what to do. The Plisson performed great. A different lather, but good.

I need to do a little handle work on this LC New, but it was a smoother shave than the LC I used at the starting of the week.

Over the past few weeks I have been gradually moving toward cold water shaves. It started by not letting the water run until hot before filling the scuttle, and it has now become routine for me to simply use cold water. The shaves I have been getting are at least as good, if not better, than hot water shaves and I have found that I don't dislike the cold water.

    Superb R&R from B&M
This is the first day of summer for me. School is out, but my work is just beginning - I'm writing new curriculum for two courses and working a second job. I treated myself to some Rhapsody & Russe today and it was very satisfying. My HIS easily built lather on my face, and my Fatboy set on nine for all passes handled like a dream. No drama and I'm left smelling and feeling great.

Wow! This Tech is no joke! Aggressive. 3 pass Whisker-Slayer! I won't even try a 4th pass, no cleanup required. I'm still trying to figure out why it's called a tech? The Drunken Goat is awesome. So easy to lather, beautiful scent, slick.
A better tomorrow. Takes your best today!
