Maiden Voyage – Mongoose Razor with Kai Mild blade. The weight of the razor with the Hempel SS Handle is 162.2gr. This is a heavy razor. I started shaving WTG, trying to maintain a light touch. The razor has an intuitive head design allowed me to easily maintain the correct shaving angle. The auditory feedback was excellent. The razor was easy to maneuver around the nose and chin, reaching into grooves and creases. The second pass was AGT and was really smooth. Again the shaving angle was easy to maintain. This was one of the closest two pass shaves I’ve had. A BBS, with no nicks no cuts, and no weepers. When applying the Alum, I identified an area of slight irritation. No doubt by my failure to control the weight of the razor. The end result was an incredibly close 2 pass shave.

Brush Update: Today was the 6th shave with my new SOC Boar. Another shed hair today. The bristles are noticeably softer and the amount of soap that I can load satisfies my uber-lathering needs
I will always be a man, but this little piggy is no slouch.

Much the same setup as yesterday, other than the Simpson Best Badger subbing in for the boar, and face-lathering. Either my lather is getting better with Stirling, or my standards are just being lowered; your guess as to which is truer is as good as mine. Socially Acceptable Shave in 2 passes, and same spots on my throat showed a little irritation.

I have seen various caffeinated shaving products, one of which you used today it seems. What's the deal and what is your experience? Use enough and end up with hyperactive cheeks?

3 passes for a very smooth shave. I am getting consistently smooth and close shaves with the fat boy.

 

I use the Pacific Shaving Caffeinated balm but have never tried the shave cream. How do you like it?
