I didn't mean to stir a hornets nest. I just know smoking cigarettes is not good for me. To vape of not vape is not the question nor the answer. I just know that everyone who has chimed in on this has something for me to learn and its appreciated from the bottom of my heart. There is s great brotherhood in the Den. More so than any other forum I have visited. I feel a kinship to all here. I've been drinking in all the posts to this thread and find great encouragement from all of you. Just as in Traditional shaving threads. Thanks for being a part of my life. Let's live it longer. Don
Reasonable minds may differ. It isnt a hornets nest. It's been a great convo for me. Im obviously very passionate about this topic. Others are too. Everyone has brought something to the table in this thread. Thas good stuff no matter how ya slice it.
Allen Carr - The easy way to stop Smoking. It's a book, I know I know.. Sounds like bogus. But it works! My mother smoked 30+ years, stopped 2 years ago. Haven't touched a cigarette again My girlfriend smoked for maybe 7 years. Stopped smoking 2 years ago. I smoked and used SNUS for 5 years, stopped 2 years ago. Haven't smoked since.
What is SNUS? That's because we all love life. I've been enjoying this. We have some pretty intelligent people in our shaving community. Until the governments start taxing the hell out of it. More money that isn't theirs to spend helping their biggest lobbyists.
I'm one of the small group that is mostly addicted to the MAOIs. I use unflavored WTA ejuice to help stay off cigarettes. Usually in the morning and after meals.
I am an occasional smoker. I smoked pretty regularly when I was on active duty and out in the field doing training exercises. Now I get the urge to smoke when I'm drinking. I am making a conscious effort to stop doing both by going to the gym. It worked for me before and I'm confident it will help again. Also, changing the people I hang out with was big too.
Those are some of the toughest times. I already go to the gym. It is great for knee replacement rehab and my general well-being. Probably a factor in beginning this thread. I know I will have to make some lifestyle changes. Most of my friends don't smoke. My two closest do. But I love them and sure they will be behind me as they also express the wanting to quit. Thanks for the input.
Good. Even though I hate running, I need to do that more. I already know I'll have to change friends to lessen the temptation of drinking, but thankfully only one of them smokes and I'm fine when I'm not around him.
And thank you for your support and for your service. We're here for you. Especially a humble artilleryman like myself.
It's portions of a "tobacco" blend. I'm not sure what it's made off. You put it under your lip and the niquitne goes through your skin. A non user of snus thinks it tastes bad, but when you use it it's a pleasure like coffee of a smoke haha. You see above different types. Portions "white", original and the loose ones. The loose ones you have to bake like a little ball and put under the skin
Here's a bit of motivation. One of my best friends died of lung cancer yesterday. He was 62 and "smoked like a chimney".
Truly my greatest hope would be that NO young person would ever smoke again. That won't happen of course, but that's what I'd hope.
Hi I'm a smoker who hasn't been smoking for about 10 years. Here's some advice on how to quit. Some academic went and asked a load of former smokers how they quit. He noticed they all said the same thing when he asked them why they quit. Their answer was " I decided to." The academic realised something. Smoking is something you decide to do. You decide to buy some cigarettes and a lighter. You decide to open the pack. You decide to light the cigarette . You decide to smoke. Nobody is putting a gun to your head making you smoke. It's all you. Yes your body craves nicotine but it's your decision to give in to the craving, or resist. YMMV but I found 3 days of feeling bad, then all the cravings were gone. When you decide not to smoke here are 2 bits of advice. Firstly you probably smoke put of habit, as in after a meal, waiting for someone, when you wake up. Just be prepared to feel a bit weird in those situations without a fag in your hand. Secondly. Cigarettes supress appetite so try and control your eating when you quit smoking. Good luck.
My weight was down 10 lbs after the last surgery. gained five back in six months. Appetite was low then so after the next one that might help. Thanks.
I'd completely forgotten that I took up Tootsie Pop suckers for several months. I bought the big orange bags of them and they worked pretty good. I don't remember how long it went on but my dentist might remember.
