A great shave with some classic scents. I do believe that my alum block will be replaced with the witch hazel.

PRESHAVE: Face wash with soap and warm/hot water
    RAZOR: ATT H1 / MR1 handle
    BLADE: Platinum Lux (2)
    STRAIGHT: Gold Dollar 800 Stainless
SOAP: Catie's Bubbles Le Vert Orange (1st try)
    BOWL: VDH
    BRUSH: Tweezerman Badger
POST: Rinse with warm/hot water to get soap off and then some cold water rinses/splashes and pat try.

Comments: Okay so today I had a two day growth as I don't shave on Sunday's. I did two passes with the straight without any issues going WTG and XTG (at angle). I go this way cause when or if I try ATG, the razor seems to tug no matter what angle I try. Today I did feel that the shave was better using more angle than I have tried in the past. It just seem to cut the beard better and I would guess I was around 40 degrees instead of the 30 degrees I try to maintain! Right or wrong, it seemed to help. I did end up with two small weepers, one in the neck area (tough spot for me) and one under the chin (another tough spot) and only slight irritation. The shave felt pretty good and what I would call a CCS at least. Like my last shave, I could have quite there and really been fine with my straight shave but there was some touch up to do around a few spots which are my tougher areas so to complete the shave in my opinion so I used the ATT H1 and did a pass to finish it off. This soap is the my first time with it and I like it as it is very good soap! I had no issues with the lather, It gave me plenty of protection or slickness. I did have just a bit of irritation but only in a couple of spots but wasn't much or very harsh at all and for most part it was pretty much gone after just a few minutes! Shave was really good today!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV!

    Thx.

Mike, are you eventually going to go straight razor only? Or will you continue to use your DE's?

    Dove Men Face Wash
    Soap Commander Renewal (first time)
    Semogue 1800 Boar
    Gillette Black Handle SS
    Gillette Rubie Platinum Plus
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Pinaud Clubman

The Soap Commander Renewal Shave Soap (a gift from @david of central florida) face-lathered like a champ with my Semogue 1800 Boar brush. Two passes with my Gillette Black Handle SS razor and a Gillette Rubie Platinum Plus blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

The SC was a great soap. I face lather, and it just burst into lather. I was a bit leery because the label warned to discontinue if irritation, but none for me. The scent was complex but very nice and it was not overpowering. It provided plenty of cushion and protection. I think this is my first vegan shave cream. At least it is the first that is advertised as such. It is scheduled for a July 1 shave next. Thanks again, David.

First of all, a Happy Birthday to Patrick! :)

Now, my shave plans for Tuesday:

Neutrogena Men Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/Derby day 7
Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill SS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Gold Bond Moisturizer :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Osage Rub AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Chabrawichi 555 Cologne

Man oh man, these new Glacial soaps are so wonderful - the last time I used the latest version of the Lemon Chill, I noticed that the scent was even more refreshing as well as invigorating, the lather was easier to work up, and the menthol effect was more powerful. (right up my alley!) The skincare is still the same, so in other words it's perfect. Rod really did a brilliant job of creating some masterpieces in terms of his soaps. The Gold Bond/Rubby Dubby Doo is one HELL of a menthol combination which a guy like me looks forward to after a shave. The Derby blade gets its final run before being changed. ;) :D

At this point I am not 100% sure but more than likely I will continue to DE shave also as I have the Wolfman's on there way back home to me! LOL I don't even know yet if I will stay with straights as the honing (ie, stones costs), stropping costs might far outway the benefits that I may get from it but may alternate with the DE for awhile and see. Right now I dont have much into it as my razors were cheap (Torrey, Red Imp 132 and the Gold Dollar 208) and I was able to barter/trade for the honing and restoring of them to get me to this point of trying it out but I do like it, more than DE not with the Wolfman!

I have a cheap strop and I mean cheap at this time. I have priced out a few "good" one but I don't know if they are "great" ones at around $40 so this stuff will add up very fast, which might just make me a casual straight user!

Any reason in your question or just curious? :)

Thanks! I found the Torrey that I used on Ebay for $16, got the Red Imp for $20 and did a soap trade for the GD stainless and a buddy did a trade deal to hone, restore the Torrey and hone, cleanup and rescale the GD stainless. I don't know why but I see quite a few people talk about the Dubl Duck and I liked the looks of them so I had to try one! :)

I know if I stay with straights or at least try to use them in rotation with my Wolfman, then I will more than likely end up having to hone them either myself (which I prefer to learn but don't prefer to purchase all the gear) or send them out at like $20-25 a shot!

    Do you use straights?
