I see it as a travel version of the soap. I've only used this once and at the moment prefer the soap. But it's too early to make any final judgments on this cream.
:mail: My Rubberset 400 is back from @clint64 . He did a incredible job on it. A true vintage boar brush.
Was in a local antique shop earlier in the week and saw this in a locked cabinet. Lady was busy and didn't want to bother her so left. Last night I was out with the wife and thought I'd check and see if it was still there! After all, a Geneva Pyramid for $8! She opened the cabinet and I took the razor out to look at it and this is what was in there! A Wade and Butcher!! Does it have a few problems? Sure, but wouldn't we all if we made it to 120 years old?!! And it was $8! I'll clean it up and see how it looks. Looks like horn scales, what do you think? I want to keep it original if possible, I think it deserves it! Sorry about dicey photos, using phone! I'll see if I can get better when at home.
I received an unexpected package from Mark @Boojum1 yesterday. I am looking forward to using this soap.
Received the nine razors and couple of cases I bought last week. Great, speedy shipping, happy. Opening up the box, great packing peanuts but...uh.....what....? In the middle of the box are the razors and boxes just dumped into a clear plastic bag: What on earth was the purposed of the shipping peanuts around this bag where the razors are happily rattling around against each other? Opening up the GEM bakelite case the internals are simply obliterad: Here's a funny twist on the story. It was shipped by Razor Emporium in Arizona... Not sending any razors of mine to them any time soon for re-plating, that's for sure. Emailed them the photos and will see what they have so say. Sigh...
Well, the seller just emailed me explaining that he had his wife pack it while he was away - and apologized for not giving her more clear instructions. It might honestly be the worst 'packaging job' I've ever seen. Just throwing everything into a plastic bag having stuff bang around in there. Anyway, the seller offered a 50% refund and for me to keep the stuff so I'll do that. I would had liked that bakelite box though...oh well....
I feel badly for the man and his wife. Surely, she just did not know what she was doing. I am glad you got the refund. Too bad about the bakelite box though.
It's always sad when something survives the tests of time for 60-70 years...just to be destroyed by incompetence. Hm, makes me think about me stropping razors actually...so maybe I should just be quiet.... I guess in the end I got nine razors for 10-11 dollars so there's somewhat of a silver lining.
