Have only tried the one I bought 101NE so cant recommend one over the other but I did take this one SS Matte finish and sprayed it with Plasti Dip black matte and then I peeled it off and used O rings for a different look but back to the factory matte finish.
My attempt to show tomorrow's shave. Changing out Stirling Lemon Chill and going to use Stirling MITA instead. Otherwise it will be day two with the Astra SP. Also, please ignore the fancy container. The Rubbermaid was the only thing I had until I find some thrift store containers to hopefully look better.

SOTD 1 July 2015 A Month of Maggard For July, I will be using a Maggard courtesy of a @Bobcat PIF from last month. I will be conducting a blade trial for this razor. Read more details <here>. It was a great first day! Have a great July and a happy Thursday!
Indeed, I tried some loosening. Screwed all the way down, there is nearly no gap between base and blade, which led me to group this among the (very) mild razors. Loosen it too much, and the blade might jump around, like @Cap7597 notes. I do think it should be slightly loosened, however, and will try the 1/8 turn. AND pay more attention to angle. Used it again today with the same Feather blade, and felt quite some tugging - quite unusual for a Feather blade in my experience.
Yes, I hear it's a good soap. That blend is something im yearning for =P I make my own blend of shaving creams now and then. The rose usually overpowered the sandalwood though. I do a TOBS sandalwood and Cyril sandalwood. TOBS smells great, but not strong. Maybe a cyril sandalwood is in place =P but I'm not buying stuff at the moment so it will have to wait
SOTD July 2, Prep: Shower, hot face towel, rose preshave oil Razor: Gillette Adjustable "Slim" Brush: Parker Badger Blade : Astra Soap: B&M Unscented Post: Rose Witch Hazel Balm: Shea Butter Mustach Wax: Badger An early morning shave today. The early bird gets the worm. Smooth shave this morning. Two passes with touch ups. Love this Slim...so efficient. Enjoy your day gents!
Classy Thursday Test Depth and Gondolier are seemingly made for each other - the scents are amazing together. The Colonel made quick and easy thick and slick lather to prepare my stubble for its fate. Ultimate justice was smoothly administered by the Fatboy, resulting in a drama free progression to smoothness. I left the razor set on nine and payed close attention to pressure. Gondolier left my skin moisturized and smelling classy. Prep: Mickey Lee Lime Soap: Reef Point Test Depth Brush: The Colonel Razor: '59 Fatboy Blade: Voskhod (3) AS: PAA Gondolier
Smooth as silk - another perfect and very pleasurable shave. The Palmolive Menthol cream felt colder than heck this morning!
