    July 3

    MdC facial soap
    Muhle R41 (2013)
    Feather blade (day 3)
    RV Shavemac two-band silvertip brush
D.R. Harris Almond shave cream - all gone - and a few drops of glycerin
    Two passes
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Pinaud Clubman aftershave

This was my last shave as part of my
June focus. I used a scalloped comb razor, the R41, for the first time this month, and my goal was to achieve consistently close, comfortable, and nick-free shaves. The bottom line is that my shaves were great from the start. No doubt, the R41 loaded with a Feather blade is the best performing DE in my rotation. I'm on to a different set up for my July focus beginning tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

I've never seen that on my Gem SS (Pella) blades, are those carbon?

I HAVE personnas and I know they do not get this "rust".

These are carbon I believe I have asked about it before. This has happened before but never this bad! I even cleaned them with rubbing alcohol to prevent this any further but this had already appeared. It's crazy, I don't feel confident in using them again, but it shouldn't be dangerous, is it?

Most of the people that I know that uses this likes it. It is not an expensive soap or maybe the maker is not pandering to certain "power users" that may be a cause of negative reviews. In my experience all the Taconic soaps produce slick rich lather.

It is one of the easiest soap for me to lather, but I can also lather current Williams without issue as well so maybe that is not saying much.

One way in which I use it is to pour about 3 tablespoons of hot water on the puck and let it soak while I am in the shower. When I get out I pour the water, that has been standing in the soap, into a mug and with a slightly wet badger, boar, or dry synthetic actually whisk the water mixture and the lather seems to come up easily for me. I also face lather but that is more of a rub of a wet brush and lather.

I realised I hadn't used my Gem Micromatic or Tabac lately so I decided to use them today. Should have remembered to use a lighter touch with the GEM.

The matching BR aftershave balm is really good. The bay rum scent is long lasting and the lotion isn't heavy on the skin like some of the others I have.
