very neat. I love the feel and heft of that razor. if it took common blades, I'd already have one.

Which one? The brass handle or the SEGAL? I know this brass is very hefty.
I figured it took atras or similar.

Trust me, it's gone from borderline unusable to very nice (with the addition of a Whipped Dog two-band high mountain knot).

Still the prettiest brush ever made, though the Rubberset 400's are nice looking too.

Yeah. My friend @JR Reyes gave me the Proraso soap around Xmas and I fell in love with it. It was one of my must haves for 2015. So I knew I needed to try the after shave. It is a creamy balm and leaves my face silky smooth.

here is mine, the knot is how I bought it. incredibly soft, dense and luxurious. I like it very much. all I've done to it was wash it.
it made me research the maker,I liked it so well.
I believe it has the original Rooney knot. I can see why they were highly rated.
I got this brush and the razor at a garage sale. I asked the lady, she said yes she did have some items( had to go inside to get them). they were her late husband's. I have her five bucks for two brushes, a razor, a mug, and a new Surrey soap. I didn't have the heart to offer her less.

If it's the original knot, it's not a Rooney. Both the original packaging and a sticker on the base of the knot are marked "Made in Korea."

The Rooney rumour was started by someone on B&B, full of wishful thinking. It is a beautiful knot, but in my brush it was way too floppy for me to consider it usable.

$5 for the brush and other stuff is a steal. Wish I gotten mine for that price. :)

thanks for letting me know. I had assumed it was a Rooney from what I read( mostly from your posts). while I'm happy to know the truth, I'm sorta sorry it's not a top shelf knot.
regardless, it's still soft and dense. I have read your preference for firmer brushes. but I like the softer ones also. they have their place in my den. I especially like them when I want drier foamier lather(without sacrificing slickness).
    but thanks for the info.

I picked up some vintage Gillettes over the past few weeks for myself and a couple of buddies. I shaved with this G-3 (birth quarter) Fat Boy today.

Thanks. I purchased it on eBay along with a few other Gillettes. The seller, who was a nice guy, said that it had belonged to his wife's dad. They found it in his attic. I thought that was a pretty cool story. He thought it was nice that it was made during my birth quarter and that I would actually be using it.

How do you like your Slim? Do you also have a FB?
