hey there! loving all of this wood my gear: 23c, astra sp, kos shave gel, dove men face balm. i get great irritation free bbs shaves. i hope to acquire a merkur 34c, captain's choice bay rum soap, omega synthetic brush, and some sort of aftershave. i want to step it up a notch. any suggestions would be great!
Ohpaos is going to love you. Welcome to the Den. I think I'm one of the few who still has a B&B account, but I also have a sense of humor...which is why I spend 99% of my time here. You'll fit right in. Edit: what kind of aftershave you looking for? Traditional barbershop scents? Modern "aqua" or citrus? Metrosexual? Face freezing menthol?
Welcome! I found my way here after a B&B mod suspended me for 'ungentlemanly behavior'. They never saw fit to explain what that behavior actually was no matter how many times I asked. I think the mod was confused, suspended the wrong account, and then wouldn't own up to the mistake. I still have an account there, but I don't use it any more. This is a much smaller group of people with much better discussions, IMHO. I can almost promise you there won't be 15 live threads asking if anyone's heard of Pinaud Clubman.
whoever Ohpaos is, i love him even more. holy metrosexual batman! more like a modern twist to the classics. something that's stable, and isn't too overpowering. if that makes any sense. after shave and post shave balm would be great.
man. the way you're describing this place is making me love this place even more, and i just signed up!
The Den was my fist shaving forum I joined. Then I also joined B&B that same week. I was new to wet shaving so figured questions would get answered faster at B&B since they have so many members. They weren't rude, but didn't quite make me feel welcome either. Ultimately I stopped visiting B&B. There's just as much knowledge & experience here and several someone's are always more than happy to answer questions. Glad to have you with us. And I salute you for standing up to PC stupidity and not changing your name!
He's a she, actually. I haven't seen her around in a while, though. Nivea Post Shave Balm is always a good choice, though it doesn't have much of a scent. I'm a poor choice to answer your question, as I prefer old fashioned, timeless scents that evoke the aura of an old time barbershop. When someone says classics, I think of scents that contain all the classic barbershop essentials...lavender, oakmoss, and tonka bean. In other words, a Fougère. English Fern, Pinaud Clubman, Ralph Lauren Safari, and Pour un Homme de Caron are all Fougére scents. Then you have the Chypre scents. Woody, mossy and rich, the drugstore brand Brut is a Chypre, so is Gucci, Jimmy Choo's Man and Hugo. If you are looking for sporty, fresh, fruity or flowery, I can't help you. Not my cup of tea.
Hello and welcome to TSD, I like it here a lot and from what I read you will to =) Hmm, for aftershave I would try aqua velva. I bought it from USA and I love it, has a nice menthol kick and nice scent
Welcome to TSD! A great community of shavers...and to borrow the words of a well known Canadian radio show host..."we may be small, but we're big".
welcome to TSD!! as mentioned earlier this is a much smaller group than the other site but TSD made me feel more welcome and now this is home. as far as aftershaves go everyone has their own idea of what smells good. the options are endless and you can find almost any scent you can think of from the online vendors and depending on where you live some can be found locally as well. with that being said, here is a short list of suggestions: Aqua Velva Pinaud products Ogallala bay rum products Master's a/s Stephan's Captains Choice Floid Myrsol TSD aftershave (of course!) Stirling Gingers garden Mama Bears Fine Aftershaves Porasso RazoRock Speick Geo. F. Trumpers TOBS
to TSD "kiss_my_asthma" I hope you enjoy it here. If your getting great, consistent, irritation free, BBS's, I don't know how you could step it up? All you can hope for is to maybe change it up for variety. That of course is a YMMV kind of thing. I personally like products to the cheaper side as long as they work like Corn Huskers Lotion for a preshave, Arko shave soap and Nivea post shave balm. Aqua Velva, Barbasol Rush, Old Spice, Florida Water and Pinaud Original and Bay Rum.
