    SOTD 7/15........... Running late today so it was a quick but excellent shave with the following;

Merkur 1904 w/Israeli Personna (Royal Blade)
Barbasol Yellow, Witch hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm finishing w/Barbasol Pacific Rush aftershave.

Single pass w/some touch-up for a CCS! No time for a picture, have a nice day ;)

I understand completely. It is certainly a YMMV sort of thing. For me, I love the Artist Club blades and actually prefer SE razors including my GEM and Schick razors to most DE razors I have tried. I am on the list for a Wolfman and hope to someday try a Cobra

    warm shower/cold water shave
    TGC synth
Phoenix Pre-Shave butter :Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily:...........not sure about this one. While it was nice and frosty and slick,it left my face feeling a lil waxy.I would for sure not use this with a boar or badger,I didn't see any adverse effects on the synth, but it was only one use. However it does have good ingredients, aloe vera, neem oil, argan oil, shea butter, calendula & vitamin e,all organic.I'll give this another shot down the road, maybe use it as a ASB.

    Tiki Bar Fougere
Feather AS-D2/Feather (2)......another stellar BBS shave!
    cold water rinse
    Bloc OSMA alum
    cold water rinse
    Tend Skin
Can You Handlebar Beard Dry Oil
Phoenix Daily Driver ASB...........this one is interesting, cucumber oil and some other stuff.Nice and soothing and good skincare, only downside,no menthol.

    Mongoose Shave #15

Shower, Mystic Water Soap Yemaya, Neutrogena Face Wash
B-3 Mongoose with with Triad Helix Hex TI
    Feather Professional #8
Paladin TSN LE #33/100 Two Band Blonde Badger
MDC Le Bol En Bois – Fougere
Alum Block, Dickinson’s +Menthol, Unrefined Shea Butter
    Fine – Platinum Aftershave

Today’s shave was near BBS in two passes including clean up. XGT-WTG/AGT worked well especially on the neck, around and under my chin. Shave #8 with the Feather Pro went very well. There was some slight pulling, near the end of the second pass. It may make it through one more shave. This was my second shave with the Paladin TSN LE. It is a Lather Monster. It held the lather well, had good flow through and performed flawlessly. The knot specially designed for the Shave Nook is a Hybrid Fan that measures 26 X 52-23mm. It is Two Band Blonde Badger, marginally dense, and rather floppy with a very impressive splay and not much backbone. When wet the tips clump well and have a gel like feel. The MDC left my skin a little dry but the Unrefined Shea Butter solved that rather well. Finished with a generous splash of cool and refreshing Fine Platinum. I love this razor and will have no problem with another 30-days of shaving with the Goose.

    Odin's Day:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpsons 56 Best Badger
    Lather: RazoRock One-X croap
    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC
    Blade: Bic (4)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (10, 11, 12)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

Call it "A Pass Too Far." With proper lathering and good prep, I had two outstanding passes on day 4 of the Bic. . . and then. . . . The second XTG pass on my throat is really closer to an ATG pass, due to how my beard grows there. Even with the 'Swallow and Hold' technique, I would up with three different weepers around the Adam's Apple. Oh, well. DFS+ results otherwise.

    July 15th
Razor - Feather SS AC/Gillette New LC
    Blade - [IMG] (1) [IMG] (1)
    Brush - VDH Boar
    Soap - MWF
Post - Cold Water splash, Alum, Nivea Original

Ok, back to the rule now that the Feather is in the house. I made a couple of other changes as I restart things. I'm using a Kai Mild blade instead of the Feather Pro, mostly because I'm changing razors and feel so I want a bit more forgiveness in the blade for now. Second, I'm going to rotate my boar brushes with the FAT to see if one has better performance. Now, off to the shave!

Chose the VDH Boar today as it is a stiffer and low loft brush. It really puts the lather out with MWF and that is what I want. Great performance with those two. Grabbed the Feather and I have to say the handle is very grippy and comfortable. First pass felt pretty good and got good results. Right side is better as is usually the case but the left side went well too. Lathered again and went for the second pass, XTG. As I was working on the right side I noticed a couple of spots on the left...near the goatee on the jawline and near the ear. A couple of nicks I didn't feel or notice. Oh well....keep going on the right, work back from chin to ear and then my mind slipped....you never want to rotate the AC razors against your face. I basically tried a quick spin of the blade, just a hint of a hook and the blade tip found a grip and I felt that old familiar slice. It wasn't bad, and in fact I had to wait a minute for it to bleed. Stupid move, wide awake again and continued. Worked the XTG on the left cheek which is a bit difficult using only the right hand and made a quick run on the neck with no pressure at all. Checked the bleeding and went ATG on my face with the New LC and finished my neck XTG and G-slide. Cold rinse, Alum burned pretty hot all over, and I did a final cold rinse and used the Nivea to cool down.

So, one major error on my part led to a bit of a problem but overall it felt pretty good. It's off to face the day....but only in the 80s today instead of the 98 degree days we've had so far this week. Almost like winter.

Oh yes! The Paladin TSN LE has a specially designed Shave Nook knot. It is unlike the other Paladins. The LE Knot has the same 2 Band Badger hair but is taller at near 52mm and less dense than the other Paladins. The LE has a Hybrid Fan shape with a slight scritch and flop. The tips clump and are slightly scratchy when dry. The LE has an impressive splay. It holds lather well and has good flow through and has yet to shed a hair. The LE's performance overall, like all Paladins, is excellent.

Clint, good luck with the Cobra if you get one. I would go with the King Cobra as I did not like the handle on the original one, at all! It was quite uncomfortable for me.
