Arrived yesterday—another stone to add to the honing regimen. This 3k stone essentially 'fills the gap' between my Naniwa 1k and 5k nicely. I've nearly a dozen razors in need of honing (not my own!) so this is a welcome addition. And I consider this acquired item under 'Restoration & Maintenance Supplies'—skirting the strictly-enforced NBJ rules as they apply to the avoidance of purchasing shaving paraphernalia.
That looks great Kevin. I am slowly trying to build a hone collection as well. Started with the Naniwa 12K now on the fence as to decide what to get next. Maybe the Naniwa combo
Hey Gents, check this out. Stirling Soap has just released their 26mm Plisson brush for an introductory price of $19.95 http://www.stirlingsoap.com/synthetic-shave-brush-26mm/ Look at this, https://www.reddit.com/r/Shave_Bazaar/comments/3difsb/vendor_stirling_synthetic_brush_26_mm_knot/ Last edited: 14 minutes ago GeneralKinetics, 49 minutes agoReport I'm just the messenger!
May your lather be runny, your brush be a shedder, your razor be rusty, and your aftershave burn like Clorox.
I've been pleased with the edges I've gotten off the Naniwa SSs. I've opted to use the SS for the entire process (bevel-set to finisher); using the Naniwa SS 1k (softer) in lieu of the Chosera Pro, and progress through (now with the 3k,>5k>8k>10k>12k) the stone series. After the 12k, I may even do a few light laps off a natural (such as the Apache or Escher) just to see the difference (if any) in edge smoothness. This final 'natural' step may be completely unnecessary as the edge off the Naniwa 12k is pretty darn smooth....
Luckily, she is extremely punctual. Arrives between 12:10 and 12:15 every day. Edit: except today! I expect the reception will be when I get home from work.
Glad you got your toothpaste. After falling off the wagon and causing me to have depression (I thought you would hang) it would be gracious of you to PIF at least one pair of scissors to one of those who do stay the course. I could use a new pair to hide from the wife.
a) I wouldn't call it a Plisson, b) I hear it's only at the introductory price for a week...or until end of...July...
Mr.@Omaney, would it be possible to post a list of those of us who have had the strength, perseverance, patience, and honor to stay the course? Seeing we have been getting bombarded from those weaker vessels, it's getting hard to keep track of the players without a scorecard.
If you look at the list of the participants in the opening post he is crossing out the ones that failed succumbed rose up against self imposed oppression anti-commercialism failed.
Guess I'll just have to print out the list. Thanks guys. It's so much fun watching the injuns circling the wagons. This is only my rookie season and I enjoy you guys very much.
