    Brush: Omega 10083
    Lather: Palmolive Shave stick

Nicked myself a bit around the the chin and mouth on the 3rd pass today. :(

I really hope it's not the lather of the Palmolive because I really loved how nice and luxurious it bloomed from my face! :love055:

    Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Jayaruh #10 Synthetic
Gillette English NEW LC/Brass Punch Handle
    Rapira Super Stainless
    Thayers Cucumber WH
    Pinaud Vegetal

The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #10 Synthetic brush. Two passes with my Gillette English NEW LC razor and a Rapira Super Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and then Pinaud Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    SOTD: Friday/Saturday/Sunday

Razor: 1958 Fat Boy (custom rhodium replate) :happy088:
    Blade: Astra SP
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip
    Soap: RazoRock XXX
    AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush

At the end of June (before NBJ) I traded a 1961 Fat Boy to @RaZorBurn123 for an Ikon 102 Slant. As I've said in previous posts, I have absolutely loved the Ikon and couldn't be happier with the deal. Kerry's a true gentleman. :eatdrink047:

The Ikon's heavy weight, long OSS handle and the resulting efficient, comfortable shaves have moved it very near the top of my favorites. :happy093:

Anyway, Kerry suggested the idea of making a comparison between the FB and the Ikon, so this weekend I've pulled out my trusty '58 Fat Boy and will attempt to make a comparison. :signs002:

First thing is that the Fat Boy feels like half the weight of the Ikon and it's handle is significantly shorter. I normally use the FB at setting of 6 or 7, but Friday I tried it on 2, then 3 since the blade gap on the Ikon is so small. Unfortunately, I really struggled to get a good, close shave. I did 2 passes (XTG, ATG) just like the Ikon, but at a setting of 3 the FB just couldn't get the job done without LOTS of touch-ups and then it still wasn't all that close. It all comes down to the fact that the FB and the Ikon are totally different razors and have totally different technique requirements. So, Saturday and Sunday I use the FB at a "normal" setting and see how it goes. :D

    Tomorrow a side-by-side pic.

Day #17 with the B-3 Mongoose

Shower, Mystic Water Soap Yemaya, Neutrogena Face Wash
B-3 Mongoose with with Triad Helix Hex TI
    Feather ProGuard #1
Doug Korn D-7 Ivory & Aqua Marine Finest
    La Savonniere du Moulin
Alum Block, Stirling Black Ice Witch Hazel, Unrefined Shea Butter
    Chilled Proraso Aftershave Lotion
    Brooks Brothers 1818

I changed blades for today’s shave. The Feather ProGuard blade in the Mongoose gave me a noticeably closer shave than the Feather Pro or the Kai Mild. The shave was too close in a couple of spots. I overloaded Aqua Marine D-7 with the La Savonniere du Moulin Soap, 30% ‘Asses Milk and whipped up a reasonable, yet underwhelming lather on my face. The AM has a pleasant soapy scent with decent moisturizing. Two pass bliss today. The Black Ice made me stand straight up and the Shea Butter felt incredibly soothing. Topped today’s shave off with refrigerated Proraso Aftershave Lotion. Whoa Nelly, what a chill! Save the 1818 for my date tonight.
Have a great shave today gents!

30-Day Focus - Blade Trials for Gillette Tech
Weekly Trial for: Personna Red, Derby Green, Gillette Silver Blue, Voskhod

    Hot Shower
    Pre-Shave Oil: Gingers Garden
Soap: Catie's Bubbles Mile High Menthol
    Brush: Omega Pro 48
    Razor: Gillette Tech “Fat Handle”
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3)
    TSD Witch Hazel
After Shave: Myrsol Agua Di Limon
    Mustache Wax: Dirigo Blue

3rd day on GSB. Two-pass shave. Don’t need to continue their trial any longer - the three shaves on this blade have been the best I’ve had since converting from carts. This will be one of my preferred blades for this razor.

    Onto another blade tomorrow!
    DirigoBlue.JPG

Received sample of Dirigo Blue Mustache Wax from @swarden43
    - TSD Tutorial author on How to Grow, Maintain and Wax your Handlebar Mustache

My fairly thick mustache is near the start of handlebar length. It’s fairly well-trained, but will naturally grow straight down into my mouth without wax. So it needs a strong hold to get through the day. I’ve looked forward to trying Steve’s formula after using various commercial brands over the years with mixed results.

    Initial thoughts:
Scent - pleasant, mild and subtle beeswax aroma.
Application - Easy. Just as described in the tutorial.
Hold - Just after application, hold appears ready to face the business day.
Tough day for a 1st-day trial - Seattle weather forecast - 90 degrees!
Will report the user experience after an extended test period.
    Thanks Steve!

    Stay cool all!
    Cheers!
