Prep: Hot facecloth followed by homemade rose pre-shave oil
Soap: Body Shop Maca Root Shave Cream
    Razor: Fendrihan DE 3 piece
    Blade: Astra (green)
    Brush: Semogue
Aftershave: Hot facecloth followed by rose Witch Hazel
    Aftershave balm: Shea butter/coconut oil
    Mustache Wax: Badger

This was my first time using the Body Shop Maca Root Shave Cream. It was a pleasant surprise.:happy088: Scent was mild....and for me that's always a bonus. I heard someone describe the scent as being like laying in a field of grass and wildflowers...and they were right. The Fendrihan with an Astra blade is such a solid combination. This was a nice shave. 10/10...and now I am ready to face the day. :chores016:

    Thor's Day:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpsons 56 Best Badger
    Lather: RazoRock One-X croap
Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC OC
    Blade: Bic (4)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (9, 10, 11)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Captain's Choice Cat o' Nine Tails AS splash
Cologne: Gigember Estragone by Dr. Vranjes

Due to a couple of foul-ups in my morning routine, I felt it necessary to bowl-lather the One-X this AM, giving the preshave balm the chance to actually soften my stubble. This made for very voluminous, but slightly airy, lather. Couple that with the Bic's 4th day, and I actually wound up with a little irritation, though no bloodshed and generally DFS results. The 'icy-hot' combination with the mentholated One-X and the heat of the Cat o' Nine Tails was interesting, if not particularly intense, as One-X is only mildly mentholated. I think I only have one more shave out of this jar.

Prep: Hot shower with Neutrogena Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Gillette Black Tip, French Frame Back straight razor
    Blade: Astra SP (5)
    Brush: Turkish #6
Soap: WSP - Black Amber Vanille
    After: Home made ASB
Cologne: Prada - Amber Pour Homme Intense

The #6 brush whipped the Black Amber Vanille into a wonderfully thick lather. The Black Tip and the Frenchy did their jobs really well. The Prada was a fine finish for this 2 pass Darn Fine Shave +.

    Have a blessed day!

Pinaud Lime Sec with added menthol

I don't think I care for the Satin Tip brush. It does the job but don't really like the feel or the way it applies the lather as compared to my silver tips. But, a fine shave was had and I'm ready to face the day.

    Soap: Stirling "Naked & Smooth"
Brushes: Plisson synthetic vs mystery knot
    Razor: Feather AS-D2
    Blade: Astra SP
    After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

In my SOTD I face lathered with the Plisson synthetic on one side of my face, and a mystery knot newly acquired from an eBay seller. I was able to face lather fairly well by pinching the knot firmly between thumb and forefinger.

This new knot is described by the seller as "Synthetic Knot Shaving Brush Very Similar to L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic 24mm". It certainly looks very much like the Plisson knot. The fibers in the two knots look identical and size and shape are very similar.

On my face I could tell the difference, the new knot has more backbone than the Plisson, but not too much. Certainly not the strong backbone of the Whipped Dog synthetic knot, which to me is too firm and springy. The mystery knot has a small glue bump that probably is responsible for the backbone compared to the Plisson, which does not have any noticeable glue bump.

If I had to pick just one, I think I like the Plisson better, but it's close. The mystery knot is a good one. It will go into a restoration that I am planning.

Here is a comparison of the two from the side:

Here is a comparison from the top (Plisson is on the left):

So how do you like this shave tonic?

Early December 2013 I bought a bottle and as chance would have it, my granddaughter wanted to give me a present for Christmas but money was tight for my daughter so I gave my daughter this bottle so they could wrap it and my granddaughter could place it under the tree to me from her. Well she decided to place it in my stocking and when she placed it on the hook over the fireplace it came crashing down and shattered. It smelt nice while cleaning it up and ever since then I have gone back their site now and then to buy another but always out of stock. I paid $19 back then and now $25 which from the brief moment of smelling the Tonic, seems pretty reasonable. Another site was selling this months ago @ $35 and I just couldn't pull the trigger knowing what I had paid for it.

    THURzDAY
    Last shave until Sunday
I managed to get an early morning shave in before spending the majority of time packing camping equipment into the truck.
I haven't been camping since about…oh…..1997. My wife and I are joining another couple for a few days in the wild. Tents, sleeping bags, flashlights.
I've reached the age where my idea of 'roughing it' is when the ice machine is on a different floor. :D Oh well, it should be an 'experience.'
Have a blessed Thursday, all! Wish me luck…..
