    Nice, smooth, irritation free shave.

This Aristocrat may just be my first razor to get restored. Not because its my favorite, but because it needs the most attention and, well, is an Aristocrat.

I also am really liking the WSP Barbacool AS. Oh, it stings and lets you know when you have irritation. But, on a good day, it feels great, evaporates fast, leaves a good cool feeling on the skin, and good lasting manly scent. I may have to buy a full size of this one.

    Dove Men Face Wash
    Williams Mug Shaving Soap
    Bethlehem Olive Wood Silvertip
    Gillette President
    Personna SS
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Cucumber WH
    Aqua Velva

The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Bethlehem Olive Wood Silvertip badger brush. Two passes with my Gillette President razor and a Personna SS blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and then Aqua Velva after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Jim, do you make your lids for your mugs? I noticed you had this one and one on your old spice mug.

    30 Day Rule - July 2015

Razor - Feather SS AC/Gillette New LC
    Blade - [IMG] (7) voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg (4 2/3)
    Brush - Omega 10066 (BoS)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post - Cold Water splash, Alum, Nivea

Typical early and fast Saturday shave. I stayed with the Feather SS, just cut it back to one pass with a follow up with the New. BoSFat was spectacular. The first pass with the Feather was really nice. I wonder if maybe I overthink a bit on days I have more time. Seemed like by speeding up a bit and just worrying about getting it done it felt great and I didn't do any damage. The second pass with the New and Voskhod (NewKod?) (VoskNew?) got me a nice DFS and I was ready for the alum. Not as much burn as usual so maybe there is something to less concentration on each move and just letting the shave happen. Nivea cooled it off and out the door I went looking for suckers qualified buyers for some quality automobiles. Happy Saturday a bit late and here's to a day off tomorrow!

    SHAVE OF THE DAY

    sotd28.jpg

PRE SHAVE: OCCAMS CRUSHED LIME PRE SHAVE SOAP
    RAZOR: GILLETTE TECH
    BLADE: PERMA-SHARP
    BRUSH: OMEGA S SYNTHETIC
    SOAP: THE KRAKEN
POST: OSAGE RUB/ THE KRAKEN AFTERSHAVE MILK

Had a great late night shave with a few minor weepers but BBS other than that. The Kraken smells very similar to Maggards London Barbershop but with a little more aquatic notes. Floral but in a masculine way and is a nice barbershop scent. The Omega S brush has good backbone but is soft and easy to face lather and never sheds hairs either. The milk combined with the Osage Rub made a very cooling and moisturizing post shave. This set up today worked out quite well so I will keep it in mind for the future. Hope everyone had a good day and goodnight TSD.

    Citrus Sunday
This was my first try with Ballanclaugh soap and it was a very good first impression. I recently traded for this lemon and light menthol number and it provides solid lather. The scent is fresh and clean. The Fatboy smoothly removed my stubble without drama. I finished up with Shea Moisture elixir since it has a grapefruit scent. Great shave and now I'm ready for church.

    Prep: Mickey Lee Lime
    Soap: Ballanclaugh Lemon

    Sunday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpsons 56 Best Badger
    Lather: RazoRock Cumba Cheech croap
    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC
    Blade: Bic (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (3, 4, 5)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, RazoRock Cumba Cheech AS lotion
Cologne: Jasmin et Cigarette by Etat Libre d' Orange

If there's a smoother, more comfortable blade than a Bic on Day 2, I haven't found it. I used less product than usual with the Cumba Cheech - which may still meet the same fate as the jar of One-X I just finished by month's end - and still had a surplus of lather for 3 passes. Operator error on my 3rd pass, in the form of some weird J-hook/Gillette slide hybrid maneuver I inexplicably tried on my throat, resulted in one spot of red, closed by the cold water splash after the shave. DFS+ results, all told.

Yes, I made lids for my mugs and bowls that do not have lids. That way I can stack them.

Mastro Livi "Rasoio Italiano" Stainless Damascus Steel

I love this razor! And I love my shaving soap, too. I recently made a new batch of my shaving soap by using a new formula: a "tune in" revision in order to get a harder soap and a better performing lather. Not that I was not happy with my previous recipe, but I am more into soaps than creams, that's why I wanted to make a harder version of my soap. It was also a new attempt to get my favorite fragrance - the classic bitter almond aroma, the one I love the most - and also in this regard I made a good step forward. My goal is to make a shaving soap suited for straight razor shaving, according to my own experience and how a shaving soap should be according to my taste. Kind to the skin with a very good slickness for the blade and with a stable, creamy and rich lather. I guess I achieved both goals no matter I believe you can always improve what you do. That's why I am still working on the recipe in order to make my soap even better, by tuning in the formula as well as by using a processing method I personally developed quite a long time ago. As for the razor, impeccable Mastro Livi quality: this stainless Damascus steel is very good and provides a deep and close shave. The icing on the cake was my father's Omega brush 47. This bristle brush - although being about 35 years old - is very soft and no brush I own can beat it in lathering. A genuine lathering champion!
    • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
    • Soap: RazorGuy Shaving Soap
    • Brush: My Father's Omega 47 (35 year old brush and still a lathering champion)
    • Bowl: Gerby Bowl
    • Strop: Mastro Livi Loom Strop and Hand Palm
    • Razor: Mastro Livi "Rasoio Italiano" Stainless Damascus, 8/8 Full Hollow, Spanish Point
    • Post-Shave: Alum Block
    • Post-Shave: Argan Oil
    • After Shave: Myrsol Agua de Limón
