C2 Blue tip, just some surface rust I believe and excellent paint on the tip. The ER 250D lucite brush came with the mug, or the other way around... Wanted the brush, not the mug. We'll see how well they all clean up.
I didn't want to use this stuff until August but my wife is starting to feel bad. This is a gift from her.
Having never tried Klar, I defer to your assessment. The rose is exquisite and the soap really is of the highest quality.
I don't have much of a SAD but this and the Donkey Milk soap are two I'd like to try this year. (I have a chunk of the original Klar and it's in my top-three).
Dusy is lovely, Dusy may even be better than Klar strictly because its fresher. I'm glad you were able to pick up a block from Germany.
The mug is the '76 Bicentennial special, purchased with labels from specially marked boxes of Williams. It's pewter, so should clean up nicely.
Gave the two Slims from Friday their first cleaning and alcohol soak. They look pretty nice. Better than I thought, especially the K2. The plating on the doors of that one seems a bit rougher than the J1. There is a spot on the edge of the baseplate of the J1 so I guess it makes up for the better doors. Both operate well and I don't see any mechanical issues at all. Now to decide which one stays in the collection. It's not gonna be easy to choose, I can tell you that. Although, the K2 is SWMBO's birth year so I could also keep that one as "hers" and the J1 as "mine". Here are a few pics of them in their state as of Sunday night. 1964 J1 on the left, 1965 K2 on the right.
Keep them both and give the one to your wife. It would be kind of cool to have his and hers birth year razors. Of course, my wife and I were born in the same year, so all of my birth year razors could be his and hers
