    Gillette New LC
    Feather blade (3)
    Edwin Jagger XL Synthetic
    Trumper's Coconut cream
    Two passes
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food

Today finished up my three-day "detour" with the New LC. I plan to return the to FB tomorrow and finish July on a setting of 9. With that, I will have achieved my goal this month of running through the entire range of aggressiveness settings with this razor. This razor does a great job, and it has been a lot of fun getting to know it.

OK, back to today's shave. Plain and simple, the New LC gives me some of the best two-pass shaves I've ever had. It's very easy to find the angle, and when it's right, I don't even feel the blade cutting the whiskers. A one-pass shave is pretty good, and two-passes yield near BBS results with little to no irritation. The low profile of the head allows me to trim under my nose with ease. In contrast, I have to come at this area from several directions using the FB, and the results still don't compare. The New handle is a bit short and light weight, so I may try the head with a Mongoose handle the next time around. I plan to send this razor off for a red and black Gun Kote finish after NBJ. It is definitely a keeper and will remain in the rotation!

My alum block slipped out of my hand and hit the tile floor this morning...so I have a new one out for tomorrow's shave. :)

    Have a fantastic week!

Thanks Doug. I've had a lot of fun using both of these vintage razors. I know you enjoy using Super Speeds. I have two of those that I will save for my September focus -- a Z3 (my Bride's birth quarter) and a K1 (my sister's birth quarter). Have a great week!

I look forward to seeing them. You have a great week also. I woke up thinking today was Tuesday and I still haven't gotten it out of my head yet. :)

Sorry you lost your alum block. That has happened to me too. Alum meets tile and splatters. Glad you have a back up.

Thanks Mark. The alum block was fairly small anyway, making it hard to handle, so no big loss.

I have three backups...probably a five-year supply for me if they don't suffer the same fate. :)

That's smart to keep back ups. Charlie, I have just about finished that pre-shave soap you me earlier this year. I have really enjoyed using the soap so I'll order a couple of back ups as soon as NBJ ends.

I love the stuff and use it every shave. Just stopped putting it in the list of items used. Thinking about changing up and getting the lavender scent the next go around.

Thanks to all of the fine TSDenizens who wished me and Mrs. F. a Happy Anniversary!

From all those who wrote individual messages, all the "Likes" and even the videos/photos of some of my favorites - Fred Flinstone, Pepe LePew and one of my favorite crooners Dean Martin and his hit "Amore!"

I'm so glad I fell in with such a great crew!

    THE DUCK HAS LANDED!
I walked in the house this afternoon to find my new dubl duck wedge waiting for me and my wife with that look in her eye, "you bought ANOTHER razor?" Yes, yes I did. It's a duck and it couldn't be helped! Long and short of it, I didn't heed @holyrolla 's advise, I cut my cheek first pass, then my neck first pass, and my chin first pass. But the nicks and cuts came from neglected left/right angle. Overall, I'm to excited to have this razor in my rotation and looking forward to an August focus with the duck.
    Cheers,
    Eric

    Tuesday shave #16

Today it was 3 passes with a straight and a fourth with my Cobra. Who knows the true reason but today's 3 passes were smooth, no blood and just a little irritation. Finished off with the Cobra for BBS. Maybe it was going back to the 12k stone for refresh, maybe the stars were in alignment or ??? Either way a good shave.

    Razo Rock Tight Buns
    Shavemac silver tip
    Hart Steel 7/8, Cobra Classic
    Dry Gulch strop
Alum block to keep my fingers dry

    Ha! thanks Adam!

Though she tilts her head and gives me the "Look" when I'm spending "too" much time on TSD and taking photos of shaving gear - Mrs. F appreciates this piece of my personality.

She knows that she may not be "new" but she knows she is as "bright and shiny" as anything else and knows nothing of jealousy.

Am I lucky or what?!! (and she won't allow me to post any of "our" photos!)

    30 Day Rule - July 2015
    July 27th
Razor - Feather SS AC/Gillette New LC
    Blade - [IMG] (1) voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg (2/3)
    Brush - Omega 10066 (BoS)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post - Cold Water splash, Alum, Nivea

Final week of the month which means a couple of things. First of all, five shaves left in the Rule. Secondly, it's crunch time in the car business. No days off, early outs, late ins or any other time off until Sunday. So it's going to be the usual grind to get there plus to finish up the Rule. So, today I started my exit strategy. Stay in Zen mode. Feather for one or two passes, New for the finish. Stay relaxed like I have been, let the blade do the work and just let it all happen.

Can't complain at all about this morning. Two passes with the Feather along with fantastic lather left a few touch ups to a DFS. No blood and it took less time than it did a couple of weeks ago. I may even have to do the touch ups with the Feather tomorrow. If there's one thing that came together for me in the past week or so it's just to stop trying and just shave. Using a new blade this morning had me a bit on edge until I reminded myself it's not the blade so much as what I do with it. Maintain angle, light hold, no pressure. Angle, hold, pressure, angle hold, pressure. Wow, that was fast.

Cold water, alum was relatively quiet though it reminded me I am using a straight razor, and the Nivea felt great. Added the Veg as a body splash to try and maintain a bit of freshness in the swamp we called the atmosphere today. Home for the night and ready to catch up here, sleep, and do it all over again tomorrow. Have a great Tuesday!

Your posts have led me to the conclusion that I will stay with OC razors and give the Phoenix a shot really soon. I have had one sitting in the packaging since Xmas 2014. It's time.
