Brushes are my thing too. I have tried many different knots and the TGN Finest is still my favorite and to me represents a real value in price and performance.
very very nice @Boojum1 , I was on the list, but fate gave me three new brushes last month, then nbj was in effect when my turn came up. I opted to pass, but it looks very nice. could you pm me, let me know what I'm going to have to pay? maybe give us a pic of the bottom? I'll live vicariously threw your pics, for now anyway. love it, my birthstone and everything, oooooooohhh aaaaaaaaawwww. thanks for sharing
A few more things for my Old Spice and Seaforth collections. The Seaforth Shaving Lotion on the left I picked up over the weekend. The little stopper thingy had already broken off the inside of the cap and it sounds like it's rattling around inside container. Since it wasn't airtight there's a bit of nasty gunk around the opening and the contents are pretty rank smelling. The other three I picked up at an antique store on my lunch break today. Not sure why Old Spice Burley sells for a small fortune on FleaBay. I've had my eye out for some and very curious what it smells like. First whiff was a little stinky but I put a little on my wrists and let it dry down and it wasn't too bad. The Old Spice regular cologne however, was rather ripe smelling. I don't know what the shelf life is supposed to be for aftershaves and colognes but it seems some of them die a horrible death. Lastly, is a jug of Seaforth Heather and it actually smells pretty good for it's age. And then after taking a picture of today's haul I thought I might take one of my entire Seaforth collection (minus my shave mug) that without really much effort has grown rather nicely. I'm usually on the prowl for razors so this stuff is just extra. Interestingly I have yet to duplicate anything but I tend to leave a lot of finds on the store shelf since the Seaforth items often have half the label worn off. Ps. -- you photography buffs will notice the "bath towel over a cardboard box" technique that I've recently mastered
We each have a birth razor from when I started. I got a '59 Super Speed and got her a '65 Lady Gillette. I added a '59 Ball End Tech so now I have a '65 Slim for her so it's two and two. Just not matching razors. She didn't use her Lady Gillette until June, which was her birthday. Kept saying how she wanted to use it only for special days like that and use the Edwin Jagger Heather I had gotten her. Now, though, she uses only the Gillette. So maybe the Slim might interest her. At least it would distract her from the growing collection around her.

On the left is a 104 year-old Old Type (which I think I already posted). Everything else was acquired while on a trip home for my mom's 70th high school reunion. The soaps are from Wild Mountain Soap Company in my home state of WV. My uncle gave me the 49-50 Milord; it belonged to my maternal grandfather, Hiram Deem (1900-1985). This is, and will probably remain, my only heirloom razor. The Lady Gillette is a 1972 in very good condition. Last, but certainly not least, is a 12 year-old bottle of Dewar's, which I've not been able to find in PA.
