    Gillette New LC
    Feather blade (3)
    Edwin Jagger XL Synthetic
    Trumper's Coconut cream
    Two passes
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food

Today finished up my three-day "detour" with the New LC. I plan to return the to FB tomorrow and finish July on a setting of 9. With that, I will have achieved my goal this month of running through the entire range of aggressiveness settings with this razor. This razor does a great job, and it has been a lot of fun getting to know it.

OK, back to today's shave. Plain and simple, the New LC gives me some of the best two-pass shaves I've ever had. It's very easy to find the angle, and when it's right, I don't even feel the blade cutting the whiskers. A one-pass shave is pretty good, and two-passes yield near BBS results with little to no irritation. The low profile of the head allows me to trim under my nose with ease. In contrast, I have to come at this area from several directions using the FB, and the results still don't compare. The New handle is a bit short and light weight, so I may try the head with a Mongoose handle the next time around. I plan to send this razor off for a red and black Gun Kote finish after NBJ. It is definitely a keeper and will remain in the rotation!

My alum block slipped out of my hand and hit the tile floor this morning...so I have a new one out for tomorrow's shave. :)

    Have a fantastic week!

    Treet Super
    CWR, Asma Alum Block

    Florida Water

The Kiss My Face Cool Mint moisture shave face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #13 Black Pure Badger brush. Two passes with my Ever-Ready 1912 razor and a Treet Super blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Florida Water after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Tuesday Planned SOTD
    Razor: Feather AS-D2
    Blade: Feather (D1)
    Brush: VP Leonhardy 700040 Tortoise
    Bowl: Dirty Bird 1.5 Scuttle
    Pre Shave Scrub: RazoRock GLO
Pre Shave Oil: Lavender Saffron Bergamot
    Shave Soap: RazoRock "The Stallion"
    Post: Myrsol Emulsion
    Aftershave: Country Club Southern Oud

Four new items that I arrived today and will be put the test right away. Looking forward to see how much an improvement the AS-D2 is over the D1 as the D1 was way, way to mild for me. Hope the D2 will not let me down. RR "The Stallion" I did not know what to expect in the aroma department but this stuff just smells manly to me. Good stuff and only ordered as I like CC Southern Oud and wanted something to pair with it. Haven't done a test lather yet but already know this one is a keeper. The Myrsol Emulsion, have to be honest here just didn't interest me with that milky look but @Hodge likes it as a pre shave and I want to try other pres have products out there besides using my own preshave oil which I think is pretty darn good stuff and this was a freebie when I purchased the LH 700040 in Faux Tortoise as seen below. I already have 700040 in a white handle and love the big beast so when I saw a Tortoise version available at the price being offered with a choice of one of four AS he was offering with purchase of the brush I couldn't resist the sale. Plan on using this as post shave followed by CC Oud but will try it out as pre shave sometime this week.

    30 Day Rule - July 2015
    July 27th
Razor - Feather SS AC/Gillette New LC
    Blade - [IMG] (1) voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg (2/3)
    Brush - Omega 10066 (BoS)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post - Cold Water splash, Alum, Nivea

Final week of the month which means a couple of things. First of all, five shaves left in the Rule. Secondly, it's crunch time in the car business. No days off, early outs, late ins or any other time off until Sunday. So it's going to be the usual grind to get there plus to finish up the Rule. So, today I started my exit strategy. Stay in Zen mode. Feather for one or two passes, New for the finish. Stay relaxed like I have been, let the blade do the work and just let it all happen.

Can't complain at all about this morning. Two passes with the Feather along with fantastic lather left a few touch ups to a DFS. No blood and it took less time than it did a couple of weeks ago. I may even have to do the touch ups with the Feather tomorrow. If there's one thing that came together for me in the past week or so it's just to stop trying and just shave. Using a new blade this morning had me a bit on edge until I reminded myself it's not the blade so much as what I do with it. Maintain angle, light hold, no pressure. Angle, hold, pressure, angle hold, pressure. Wow, that was fast.

Cold water, alum was relatively quiet though it reminded me I am using a straight razor, and the Nivea felt great. Added the Veg as a body splash to try and maintain a bit of freshness in the swamp we called the atmosphere today. Home for the night and ready to catch up here, sleep, and do it all over again tomorrow. Have a great Tuesday!

midnight madness mix: menthol Monday & tobacco Tuesday

PRE SHAVE: MUSGO REAL CLASSIC SCENT
    RAZOR: GILLETTE SUPERSPEED FLAIR TIP
    BLADE: LADAS (1ST USE)
    BRUSH: FINE ANGEL HAIR SYNTHETIC
SOAP: TSD 2X ICED FRANKINCENSE AND MYRRH/ WSP TOBACCO:Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily:
POST: OSAGE RUB/ GIVENCHY GENTLEMAN BALM:Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily:

Had a idea since it was midnight I would mix menthol Monday with tobacco Tuesday to get the best of both worlds! They are both great soaps and the scents mixed well together and created a mountain of lather. Haven't used the Givenchy in a while because my GF doesn't like it, so since she is not around....Givenchy it is! Using menthol products seems like it has cut down a lot on the irritation and makes the shave much more comfortable. This was my first time with these blades so it is too early to make judgment on them yet. Hope everyone had a great shave and a great day. Stay frosty my friends!!

    Day 27 - 27 July 2015 (Menthol Monday!)

30 Days of Maggard and MITA!

    image.jpg
This blade and setup get a day three, and another great shave was the result. Right now GSB has a slight lead on ASCO for best pairing out of this group. Gillette Platinum, Rapira SS and the blue 7OClock are essentially tied in third. I am still pondering all that...but today was the automatic 2 pass smoothness per normal from GSB (3). This blade will see day four. Alum felt like a cool stone. I added a bunch of M-Bomb (see forum store!) to the FW, I believe with MITA that made it a menthol Monday to boot! 97F, 18% humidity and all the sunshine one can handle out here today. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a terrific Tuesday!

Charlie, a broken block of Alum is your opportunity to try something new. Dropping my Alum block was how I came across my method for using Alum. In order for Alum to work, it must get on to your face. How do we transfer from the block to the face? With water. I decided to skip the middleman. I dissolve a broken Alum block in about 15-20 oz. of water. It usually takes about 2 or 3 days to dissolve. Then, I transfer the solution to a small spray bottle, similar to this. Now, I simply spray the alum on. It works like a charm. The Alum is already dissolved, so you don't have to rub something across your face and a small 4 oz. spray bottle lasts a long, long time. It is worth a try, especially if you are going to throw out your old block.

Pulled out the Beeline Boar today; it's still shedding badly, but it gets the job done. Voluminous lather came from those bristles, again with less product than I have typically used; the lather was so good, and the blade so smooth, in fact, that I went ATG on the final pass (except on my upper lip), and got BBS results, with the only bloodshed coming from taking the top off a pimple.
