Shave of the day Pre- Hot shower, Anna and Claras bath soap Sandalwood Soap/cream- Mitchell’s wool fat Brush- Turkish No6 boar Razor- WEBER polished head stainless steel Blade- Gillette silver blue Post- Cold water rinse, Pinaud Clubman aftershave lotion, Homemade unscented mentholated aftershave lotion and Nivea sensitive cooling aftershave balm Ohh.. This blade was NICE! The first time I tried it, it messed up my face. Im trying new blades to find other Go2 than the Astra SP. The Astra has been loyal, but i find it often struggles around my chin area where my facial hair is coarser. Im gonna try and stay with MWF for a while, especially when trying blades. I wanna break in my boar brush so I’m gonna use it more often. The WEBER is an amazing shaver. Pinaud clubman smells so nice! but because it was an evening shave i just used a little and diluted it with my homemade AS in my hand before I applied.
SOTD 7-29-15 Comments: Today was another straight razor only shave! I did two passes (WTG, XTG), then a cleanup type pass (XTG/ATG), which worked fine! No irritation or nicks!!! I do feel a couple of areas that could have been closer but I will still call it a DFS shave! No issues with the infamous Arko soap as it works well for me. A very good shave today! Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV! Thx.
Razor: Merkur 34 C Blade: Merkur Super (3) Brush: Semogue 1305 Superior Boar Soap: Knock Out, "Cool Blue" A/S: Pinaud Musk Great shave tonight with this combination. Great way to finish a hot day. Three passes.
July 29 Gillette Fat Boy G3 Feather blade (2) Edwin Jagger XL Synthetic Trumper's Coconut cream Two passes Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food Two passes with the FB on a setting of 9 provides a really nice shave. A setting of 8 is just barely more forgiving, and it may accommodate a few more touch-ups after the second pass. I'll stick with 9 for the next few days to see what I can learn. I'm trying Clint's suggestion to add water into the center of the knot to see if it helps produce more lather. I need to work with this brush some more, but in the meantime, it generates plenty of lather for two passes. I hope you all are having a great week!
