So I need some help. Picked these up today as a $30 gamble. I know NOTHING about straights so any info will help. The black one is a Sheffield "the prize". The tan/wood color one just has a 1865 and weird logo that might be Rk initials with a crown above. The last one says AEVOS "high class". The last 2 both say made in Germany. Did I do good? I figure I have gamble a lot more on a lot less odds and at the very least they seem to be functional.
Not actually new, but was packed away and forgotten. From a reviewer on Basenotes: I don't know about all the notes and vintage references and such but if this is what fox hunting smells like, I want to take up fox hunting.
I've seen folks spend considerably more than $30 and come away with much less. All three of those razors can be made functional, but the question is do you wish to invest in salvaging them? All have some hone wear, particularly at the nose of the AEVO 'high class.' Severe toe wear looks like this: where both the spine and tip are dramatically altered/worn down. You've some active rust forming on the tang of the '1865' & it looks like a standard screw head as the pivot pin
I received 2 long awaited shipments: Wonderful soaps!!! I´ve ordered only the Columbia River and got the 2 other soaps as a present. Tim is a great guy!!! The coffee smells like a fresh Cappuccino with a bit of Hazelnut and the Grass scent smells almost exactly like fresh mowed grass. The Columbia River is a wonderful scent too. A bit hard to describe, but it´s a very masculine, woodsy scent with fresh notes. Thumbs up. And here is my PAV Brushworks 26mm with a 2-Band knot. I bought this from a fellow in our German Forum. I ever wanted to have a PAV Brush with wooden handle, but Scott told me loooong Time ago, that he doesn´t turn handles in wood anymore. So, this was my chance to get one and i took it. Really a big thing. So sad, that Scott doesn´t create Brushes anymore... Greetings Thorsten
I ordered these last month on Amazon, for a good price including shipping. I didn't realize it would take a month on a slow boat from Thailand to get them. Because of NBJ this is my only July arrival, which makes it photo worthy
Good deal. I am placing an order for Feathers on Saturday from Amazon. Do you remember which seller fulfilled your order?
Here is the link. The seller changes sometimes. When I ordered it it was Thai-Etc-Supply. Feather Hi-Stainless Platinum Double Edge Razor Blades :: 50 Ct https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004MUI3BC/?tag=thshde-20 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004MUI3BC/?tag=thshde-20
This one came in today gave it a few test lathers very promising one of the batch of three minus brushes -2.
You are a real comedian, Don. No brushes or knives needed. The only drawback is that we may be mistaken for liberal tree-hugging hippies. It is a sweet ride though.
