The whole process took about 1 hour and 50 minutes. So far, so good. I will update this as necessary. Anyone else have something else to share?

So far so good with me. My Bitdefender antivirus also upgraded after I switched. I am still using Chrome and everything came over with it. I haven't tried printing yet, but I don't do much of that. We will see how that goes later. I also use Picassa 3 and that seems to have survived OK too.

I am going to update after I get back from the barber. I figured I should lighten the load on top of my head first to give my brain an easier time.................. :D

I updated last night and am so far not impressed. I made it through with all of my passwords intact in Mozilla. Not necessarily anything wrong with 10, just don't see any benefit from updating yet.

I just started my upgrade. Given the avg. download times I probably won't get a chance to play with it until tomorrow (I'm working nights, so I'm going back to sleep while it downloads). Glad to hear about Mozilla surviving since I've been using Firefox and Thunderbird for several years now.

Start it and walk away. The initial download only took about 15 minutes. Then the installation took the bulk of the time with I think 3 reboots. First it was copying files, installing features and drivers, and finally configuring settings. From beginning to end it took about an hour and 50 minutes. I did the quickstart after the installation. I think that is why things are a little slow now. I think it is still doing stuff in the background. I do hope things speed up as time goes by.

That may be a good thing. Maybe you should wait a month or so. I jumped in because I felt I had the time to give it. Don't we all just long for XP?

You mean something familiar, stable and that works well? ;) Windows 7 is good, too. Even Windows 8.1 is okay after Classic Shell is added to restore the Start button and menu system. Windows 10 pre-releases have worked OK for me, but some applications have compatibility problems. Often that is due to the third-party software and drivers rather than the new Windows release. Waiting 6 months or so for everyone to work out the kinks might be a good idea.

That sounds like a winner. I did not move to Windows 7 until 8 came out. I am surprised that I jumped on this one so soon.

I just printed a document and a picture wirelessly with no issues. That is a good sign.

Need I say it? ;) LINUX for the win. A very satisfied user for 12 years now.
