A good BBS shave but that SuperMax Blue blade is going in the garbage and will be replaced by a new Personna for tomorrow. The Frozen Tundra soap is a menthol atom bomb with great, easy-to-create lather and an awesome scent which I still can't figure out!

Prep: Hot facecloth followed by homemade lavender pre-shave oil
    Soap: MWF
    Razor: Gillette Canadian Heavy Tech
    Blade: Astra SP
    Brush: Semogue
Post-shave: Hot facecloth followed by Witch Hazel
    Aftershave balm: Shea butter/coconut oil
    Mustache Wax: Badger

This combination is absolutely wonderful. Today is my razor switch day and I have moved on to my Canadian Heavy Tech...and I am amazed at this little razor...so efficient and easy. Great shave. And you just can't beat a Semogue brush. Enjoy your Sunday gents... (Hard to believe its August already).:chores016:

Unfortunately no Gary. Which is why it's so bittersweet when I take one out to use. Thank goodness we vintage junkies have people like you to keep the old brushes alive and in use.

    30 day Focus - Day 1
    MDC Lavender Face Lathered
Sputnik Blade (Day 1 on blade, Day 1 on Sputnik)
    Slim Adjustable set to 8

After completing a 30 day rule in July, where I face lathered MDC, used a Ladas blade, and set my slim set to 8, I took 2 days off and used whatever soap I felt like. Then, I decided to do a 30 day focus. This focus will give me 6 days with each of my Russian blades. I actually have 6 types, but I am not including the Ladas blade, because that was used during my 30 day rule. I decided to start with the Sputnik blade because this has been my least favorite. I only use a blade twice, so this should test the shave of each blade without factoring in longevity of the blade.

The Sputnik blade seemed to not be as sharp as the Ladas blade, with some noticeable tugging on the first pass. This also happens to me before when I make my lather too dry and I will reserve judgement at least until I complete 6 days with the Sputnik. That being said, this was not a great shave. It was acceptable in terms of closeness and there is no significant irritation, but not a great shave.

Maybe that's why they eat cats in some pats of the world.

I clicked on the like, not because I like what the cat did, but because I feel your pain. I hope it doesn't get infected. You know where those paws have been...

A thorough rinsing with cold water, followed by alum and witch hazel, should have it under control, I hope. Luckily those things are in a wetshaver's typical arsenal.

Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Shield Face Wash
    Razor: Gillette Fatboy
    Blade: SuperMax Platinum
    Brush: Stirling synthetic
    Lather: Wholly Kaw Almond Medley
Post: Alum. Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate
    Aftershave: RazoRock One X
I went to reach for my MdC and instead knocked over the jar of Wholly Kaw, this artisan doesn't get as much love as some as the others do. Almond Medley is awesome! Almond. Citrus. Floral. Woodsy. Vanilla. Vegan! Slick. Cushion-y. On my first pass with this SuperMax blade it was rough, tugging all the way! I almost binned it. But I have 140 of them. So during my second pass it was smooth as silk, I may need to hand strop these blades.
A better tomorrow. Takes your best today!

    Shave Local Sunday
I came across a locally made aftershave at an artist market yesterday, so I just had to try it out. The ingredients are very simple and few: witch hazel, glycerine, oils of peppermint, lavender, clove, spearmint, lemon and citric acid. It goes on easy with no burn and a slight cooling. Very nice and gentile. I am getting a slight tingle, perhaps from the clove, but nothing irritating. I would say that, while it is minty, it's not very zingy to me. The scent is very light.
I used CRSW Savon no.1 again and it rewarded me with creamy lather for three passes with the Fatboy. My skin is smooth and calm after this drama free shave.
    Prep: Van Yulay PSO
    Soap: CRSW Savon no.1
    Brush: The Colonel
    Razor: Fatboy 9-7-7
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
