The month of August is in full swing and this means that summer will soon be winding down. :( Ah well........

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-Cold and beautiful is the best description of the Glacial Obsidian soap - rich, wonderful lather with the typical bone-chillingly cold menthol sensation which all the Glacials give, and perfect skincare. The Rubby Dubby Doo is such a frigid pleasure for a menthol lover like myself. I love these Personna blades - they're very sharp, smooth, yet forgiving! ;) :D

    Gem Jr Parade
    Treet Super SE
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Pinaud Clubman

The Arko Stick face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #2 Synthetic brush. Two passes with my Gem Jr Parade razor and a Treet Super SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Gillette Slim G3 (3)
    Feather blade (1)
    Edwin Jagger XL Synthetic
    Trumper's Coconut cream
    Two passes
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food

My August focus begins on Monday with a birth quarter Gillette Slim set to 3. I expect that it will be like driving a Porsche 911 Turbo in first gear, but I want to experience its full range of aggressiveness settings. I've never shaved with a Slim before, so I'm looking forward to it. I recently purchased it on eBay, and the seller was kind enough to share this bit of history:

"I got it from an estate sale in a neat old 3 story house that had a staircase on both side of the house in downtown Sandusky Ohio...I don't remember the name as I got about 4 years ago. I just remember how the two staircases curved up and met on the second floor to form a single staircase for the second floor, third floor and attic. It cleaned up nice with dish soap and a nylon brush. I forgot that I had it and just rediscovered it..."

I thought this was an interesting story, and it makes the razor a little more special to me. Have a wonderful week, and enjoy some great shaves!

The Glacial Obsidian soap felt so cold that it gave the Cryogen some stiff competition. The Rubby Dubby Doo completed the freeze just the way I like it. A great shave with my new Personna blade!

    8/03/15 - Monday Shave!!
The Duke is breaking in beautifully. It provided a great, thick lather today. It's worked great as a bowl latherer. I do use a very small bowl, so the shorter handle size doesn't matter.

I went with FrostByte again today and it was cold glory. The HIS made optimal lather, which was reduced by the Fatboy using a 5-7-9 progression. I tried this pattern for the first time today and the results were great on my face, but not so much on my neck. I think nine was too much this time. Next time I'll use a lower setting on the neck. Proraso Green splash is a good scent match with FrostByte and adds a bit of cooling of its own. I also used [Terra] Cotta Mint Zinger aftershave again to help with the slight burn.
    Prep: warm shower
    Soap: HTGAM FrostByte
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: 1959 Fatboy 5-7-9
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue

CC Habana today. 20 seconds to load the ER Silvertip. Great easy, thick, lather. Gillette Silver Blue in the Slim. Great smooth, close, shave. I finished with Pitralon Classic.
