Before the creation of plastics like Vulcanite and Lucite, most wooden pipes were just that, entirely wood. Normally no, you wont clench a churchwarden just because they're too large. The lentgh and weight make it impractical. However I have clenched the mini as it allows for such. Over time, you will leave teeth marks and mar the wood and finish. There are two ways to view that though. A) It adds character; or B) Contact Macqueen and just let them know you need a new stem (I think it's $10 doe a stem). They are really nice though. I have actually had the chance to smoke them now, and I have to say, they are great smokers! The mini's are great if you're the type of person who has occasion for a "quick smoke". I've never been one to need such, but if you happen to, they are the perfect choice. I've always been a churchwarden fan, and Macqueen has only made me more so. I very sincerely recommend trying one out. I highly doubt you'd be dissatisfied.
Randy Wiley (great smokers, I own 3 and love them) loaded up with McClelland St. James Woods. First time with this baccy, and so far, while no Escudo for sure, not a bad vaper.
Well, 3/4 through the bowl and my mind is changed a bit. This tobacco definitely has a Perique forward. It has a nice pepper hit on the retrohale and a good dirty quality to it. I think I'lol let the other tin age, because with a little sweetness, this would be almost perfect. I will buy more...
Hey Chris, do you have any other H&H blends other than Anniversary Kake? I have really enjoyed the two I got recently, and am coming around to AJ's VaPer as my favorite, although Louisana Red is pretty doggone good too. Thinking of ordering a pound of each to cellar, and would like to pick up some Anniversary Kake and Virginia Spice (VaPer with cigar leaf added). I used to be strictly a tin guy, but these 2 bulks from H&H have changed my mind. Well I've also always liked Bullseye Flake and Stokkebye Navy Flake, but I now prefer AJ's and La. Red.
This is my only H&H I have tried. Based upon your commentary, I feel you would like it. It's pretty much straight up VaPer in a good way. It benefits from an hour drying time, it seems like it might age well also. For the money, it is excellent.
Hados in an old freehand funky American take on a paneled bent billiard. Had it so long I forgot the maker, lol.
It's been a while since I've had a tin of Haddo's Delight. If I didn't really take it slow, it would kick my fanny! But, as I've stated here before, I'm a little sensitive to heavier doses of vitamin N. Nice pipe! That's an interesting design and take on a paneled pipe.
I got a new Jobey, let me go pack it and snap a pic! I am gonna dedicate this pipe to Orlik Golden Sliced and Stokkebye Navy, Dunhill Flake and things in that vein.
Stromboli #200 My first link system pipe. I plan on this being a "work day" pipe, so the ability to clean it warm (ala Kaywoodie or Peterson Army) is an attractive idea. The thread link is a replaceable insert. Smoking OGS.
Tonight, I'm having a bowl of Stokkbye Sweet Vanilla. The pipe is another I have that was made by a friend. I have no idea what kind of wood he used, but I know it's a piece of root wood with some really nice pattern to it; and the stem is a solid piece of bamboo cane. It's a really great pipe, with a nice, very rustic look, and a large bowl chamber that provides a nice, long smoke. (Pic to come)
Good to hear! Timely question by Samurai, I was thinking of sending you a message to inquire how you were.
