Jeff, what kind of super speed do you have/use? I'm finding I really enjoy my shaves from the 40's super speed and my Gillette British Rocket. Thank you!

August Focus - Slim and Feather AC
    August 7
    Razor - 1964 Gillette Slim (J1)
    Blade - [IMG] (4)
    Brush - BoS (Omega 10066)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post - Cold Water, Alum, The Veg

Fourth day on the Voskhod and time to crank up the Slim. All the way to 9 and away we go. The BoS and Fat got a great lather going. I'm still trying to decide whether I like MWF or Tabac the best. So far a very close race. I'll be putting a horse to the Fat in the next day or two as well.

First pass on 9 was really nice. Got some good feedback going and it did a great job. Picked up a minor nick right on my cheekbone where the more aggressive razors tend to get me. Nothing major at all. Lathered up again and went XTG over my face and neck and finished DFS. Found a few spots that were a bit worse than the rest on my neck so touched up there with a small third pass and found the baby. Nice to have it visit again. I can honestly say that the Slim at 9 is a great shave with the Voskhod. Close, smooth, feedback to boot. Hard to beat that shave. I'm going to throw in a Feather tomorrow and set the Slim all the way down to 1. Let's see what the mildest setting with a super sharp blade can do. Here's to the start of a great weekend!

My shave today is not going to happen. I need to work on pressure and blade angle with my tech. I had a handful and a half of weepers on my neck and the sides of my chin that made alum fun in an "oh god oh god I'm on fire" kind of way so, I'm going give my face a day to heal an try again tomorrow with only one change. I'll be using Proraso white instead of Williams since it came in the mail yesterday afternoon. I test lathered with it and my nylon brush made gobs of thick lather effortlessly. My badger brush still won't give me a decent lather so it may end up in the bottom of my shaving box for awhile I have also woken up with a fever and sore throat so I'll be lazing around as much as I can and focusing on getting better so I won't miss any work. I work in the deli of a grocery store so I'm unable and unwilling to work sick. No one else needs my germs.

That sounds a little like a blade problem, does that happen with any blade you use?

Proraso white is very nice, i think it Will be a big improvenent from Williams =)

    Feel better

This was my first day with the Voskhod, The feather was uncomfortable as well but not this bad. Maybe my face doesn't like sharp blades? The most comfortable shave so far was from a personna med blue in my fatboy. Very little difference in the superspeed. I was blaming technique since the tech is so much lighter then my other razors.

Kerry, my Super Speed dates back to the 50's. I think it's terrific because it's quite mild, yet it gives me great shaves. :)

Another fantastic shave and so effortless. The Proraso Green soap which I'm using is the older formulation but it works really well. Plenty of menthol cooling and excellent, easy to build lather. The matching aftershave is so cooling and refreshing, with a nice scent.

    Der Vorschlaghammer mit LMR
The Lather Monster easily whipped up the LMR, as usual. Der Vorschlaghammer smoothly made my stubble pay for its insolence, as usual. I finished up this great shave with Maggard London Barbershop because I feel it compliments the scent of LMR very nicely.
Prep: Cold water wash, Van Yulay PSO
    Soap: Catie's Bubbles LMR
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: Der Vorschlaghammer
    Blade: Voskhod (2)

Prep - Shower / Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam
    Razor - Ever Ready 1914
Blade - GEM Personna SS (#7 and out)
    Brush - Omega 20106
Soap - Arko / Proraso Green / Glycerine
After - Frozen towel / Alum & WH Mix
    Result - BBS

I love shaving with my DE's but it's becoming increasing more difficult to peruse my collection without picking an SE razor out of the pack. It always feels like much more of special occasion, the results like the band playing at the end.
Still sticking with the überlather, this combination being particularly cushioning.
