I blame this recent purchase on Mike (@entropy1049 ) who encouraged and enabled me to try one of his fine FEONS— J-West razors. After getting me hooked on that lovely razor, he then forwarded me an ebay link to a similar razor. This is a very similar method used by drug dealers to get new customers. Give them just a taste, just enough to get them hooked, then... Wham! Tempt them with more…. For a mere $25, I fed my addiction. It needs a little TLC, but this one should turn out nice.
The knot was hauled in this month. The handle and entire story can be seen here. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/brush-handle-candidate-2-finally-receives-a-knot.46495/
KEVIN! JACKPOT! I saw the auction close and hoped it was you who got this little beauty! She's going to clean up marvelously. Can't wait to see her first appearance in SotD!!! PS: I have GPS numbers for all the best methadone clinics should anyone feel the need...
I picked up this razor in an antique store. Paid $15. It cleaned up nice. These photos are post bubble bath and toothpaste scrub. Can someone tell me the model? .
Just checked this on Mr. Razor and it looks like a 1960s French Super-Speed razor Brit. Pat. 694093 Made in England. It is the same serial number. The only difference is on the base plate in the photo from Mr. Razor there is a "II"...whereas on mine there is an "S". Not sure what that means... http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/One-Piece solid guard bar/1960s French Regular Super-Speed Set.jpg
With that patent. It could be a British Rocket or a German Parat, etc. They were all British made. Nice find!
I am not great with taking pictures....but in this photo you can see the "S" on the base plate...and the Made in England stamp...and Gillette. I can't find anything on Mr. Razor with the "S" on a Super Speed...
It's a date code. I only know how to decode US models. Anybody have a decoder ring for British models?
British and other non-US razors did not have many models that had serial numbers. That was how the Gillette Corporation was able to falsify sales volumes (inflated) of non-US razors in the 1920s and eventually cause the issues that finally led to Gillette top brass being removed in the very early 1930s and Gaisman of Auto Strop gaining full control of Gillette Corporation.
Assuming you have a 1.21 gigawatt flux capacitor. Possibly dilithium crystals (in a pinch)... Also: D-O-N-T-F-O-R-G-E-T-T-O-E-A-T-Y-O-U-R-O-V-A-L-T-I-N-E.
My GEM finally arrived. Evidently we had some label issues, but all is fine. I will look at it over the weekend and put it to use on Monday. Take a look at my selfie...
