Thanks. Unfortunately that's life, and I'm thinking of a change in profession.

Anyway, I am shooting with a Nikon D5100, 18-55mm kit lens. The picture is a bit noisy as I forgot to change the ISO to something more reasonable like 200 (not the 1600 it was shot at...I was doing astrophotography the night before). I am planning on buying a new lens, and am thinking of the Nikkor 50mm F1.8. Currently it's a toss-up between the D and G (G would be beneficial for me as it has the built in focus motor that my DX camera could use...but I like the control I would have if I got the D lens...having been trained on Minolta SLR's from the 1970's).

Thanks! I appreciate the compliment! :D

It was taken at a tiny Provincial Park near my home (25 min away), that is tucked in the foothills. I'm in Calgary Alberta, so the landscape here is very dynamic, with the mountains only 45 minutes away. :)

Getting ready for my first NFL game in person. Although it's preseason, I'm still beyond excited!

The 50mm f1.8 is a pretty good lens, and I believe the G is better of the two. I have found the 50mm to be too narrow on dx for my use, and prefer the af-s 35mm f.1.8. But as always it is a creative choice based on what you want it for. I am sure you will put it to good use, and for the price you will not find anything better

Yup. And all the way up to Maine, no difference.

One antique shop today, saw an old tired Schick SE, no DE's.

There was a pretty cool looking porcelain badger dressed in pj's and a robe holding a water bottle. I took a picture for you guys, but have not been able to upload to post. I'll try again tomorrow.

I did a bit of digging and saw that the 50mm G is much clearer than the D. I am wanting to shoot astrophotography and am looking for the widest lens around $200 (my price range). I was looking at the 35mm for the DX cameras, but the only thing putting me off is the lack if the infinity focus marker, which will be essential for me. Other than that I have read that the 35mm is a real jewel of a lens! Especially at its price point!! :)

So, I got a transfer at work from operations to the machine shop. This is a bit of a cut in pay, but it means going from 12 hour shifts, rotating days and nights every time back to work on an on 2 off 3 on 3 off 2 schedule to four tens. All day shifts, and working on pumps and compressors instead of sitting and looking at screens and pushing buttons like Homer Simpson.

And my boss thinks I'm crazy for voluntarily taking a pay cut. Life is too short, I told him, and besides, no one on their death bed ever said "Man, I wish I'd spent more time at work!"

Anyhow, this is my last Sunday and my last night to work. Period. Bring on those 4 ten hour days a week! Overtime strictly on a voluntary basis! Sleeping at night like a real human being!

Yup, today is a good day. Day off tomorrow, then on to the new department. Couldn't be happier!

1:49am PST. I should be sound asleep, but I'm not! Why you ask? My lovely wife has the AC blowing at 65F a fan blowing on her and I felt like an ice cube in all of this. Oddly our old dog Maggie was snoring at the end of the bed on the floor.
So now. I'm the brains behind cutting the cord.. Access Hollywood? :rolleyes005: I'll see what I can find on Netflix while I thaw out some.

So far a pretty interesting day.
Got about two hours of sleep due to this heat and then at 6:30am woke up due to a pretty strong earthquake. Only a short one though.
Gonna be one of those days :)

    I wonder if @HolyRollah, @mrchick or @RaZorBurn123 felt anything?

I don't think it was felt here. I was in the car anyway, so wouldn't have noticed. My wife was home and didn't feel it.

    Dang…..slept through another one!
Monday is my day off so normally I'm up early…..not today however.
It was 92°F here last night at 11:30pm…..eventually down to 64°F by early mid-morning.
Only supposed to be 98°F here today...versus the 105°F mark it hit yesterday.
    :smiley freezing:
