Have you guys tried any of these? Any thoughts?

I haven't. I like cheap cologne a much as the next guy, but I'm afraid even I have to draw the line when it comes in gallon bottles. ;)

I have been curious about them. I've always said that if I had a guest bathroom I'd buy one of those half gallon bottles of Lustray or Coachman and leave it on the counter.

I have used all the brands you mentioned, some scents I like others not as much. I actually like the entire gabel's line, (lilac, original, bay rum, sta-cool, lime). Gabel's aftershaves do not include any ingredients for moisturizing but that works for me, my face tends to be a little oily in warm weather. So when it's warm I don't need the moisture, when it's colder and I need it I use a little aveeno unscented aftershave lotion after applying the gabel's. Another reason I like the gabel's is that they do not bother my wife who is sensitive to strong scents. The gabel's smell good but are not overpowering and I don't have to be so overly careful with how much I apply as I do with some other brands.

Thanks, Veg. Thats a pretty good assessment. I moisturize after splashing too. Aveeno is awesome stuff.

They all seem to have common scent lines, any differences?

The aveeno is great, it does the trick as far as moisturising without altering the scent of the splash. I also like doing things this way because I don't need to add other balms to my already crowded shelf of shaving goodies.

Yeah. I think I'm going to buy another jug, or buy the unscented Kiss My Face Vitamin A and E moisturizer. I also put on jojoba oil as a moisturizer too.

I have Stephan. I like it. One thing I should learn though, it's much better for fall&winter time. I used it today in the humidity, and I'm sweating profusely. Maybe I'll lose some weight at least!!

I used the Classic Lilac this morning, a good alternative to the Veg.

I like the look of the Master Bay Rum. I see a lot of complaints that it is too "sticky" or "tacky". I wonder if a good body-wash in the shower would help with that. As for Gabels, I may try their Bay Rum too, sometime.

Meh. Could be kicked up a notch or two with some M Bomb.

Gabels began in 1932, I believe...one year after Billy(William, lol) Mennen went to work with his Skin-Bracer product. The older the better for me.

I've drifted away from more traditional bay rums...went to Superior 70 until I developed a mild allergy to it (no idea why)...so if I had to pick one to stay with, it'd be Stephan.

My bathroom is too small to put a gallon of AS or bay rum in it.

I guess the only difference is that they are "tweaking" it to be a cologne as well as an aftershave. Now, I'd like to see the word "Original fragrance" on any of the new Old Spice's (Swagger, etc). THAT'd give today's man a challenge!
