My happy place with a slim is 5-6. 7 if I haven't shaved in four days or so. Otherwise it irritates my skin.
Three points to Slytherin. (I assume Neal was in Slytherin in the 70s.) Book references are fun. The Answer is 42. Left at the first star, and straight on till morning. I may be paraphrasing, but I remember a line about too many razors, not enough shaves. Tough problem to have!
Working on my acquisition. I'm going to float the idea of another razor with my bride. It's been a whole 3 weeks since she told me I needed to stop for a bit with the RAD after I bought two razors the same day. We'll see when I can pick one up. Hopefully sometime in the next few weeks. Oh, and I also want a Gillette New LC. I don’t want to poison the well. As everyone knows, you can do what you want, but if Momma aint happy, aint nobody happy.
1959 E3 Gillette Fat Boy Vulfix Super Badger (660) Georgetown G12 Scuttle Noxzema Proraso Sandalwood cream Aqua Velva Ice Blue Shave #1 with the Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Platinum in my '59 Fat Boy set to 6. A very nice, really smooth, comfortable BBS shave. 2 Full passes: Pass 1 WTG on my face and XTG on my neck. I had an almost DFS after the first pass. Pass 2: ATG. At this point I had a near BBS shave. After touch up, the baby came home. A really nice BBS shave from the Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Platinum and the Fat Boy. I thought I might have some irritation on the way after blade buffing one area of my neck, but the Aqua Velva hardly complained. Very pleased with my first experience with this blade.
Oh, you HAVE to give the fat boy a go. I think I like the FB over the Slim because of the larger handle size and the different apportionment of the weight. The thicker handle makes it easy to hold with my long fingers and I just like the "feel" (weight?). I haven't notify that the larger head dome makes any difference.
30 day Focus - Day 20 MDC Lavender Face Lathered Rapira Stainless Blade (Day 2 on blade, Day 2 on Rapira Swedish Stainless) Slim Adjustable set to 8 3 passes This was a seriously good shave today. The Rapira Swedish Stainless is, IMHO, a better blade than the Sputnik, Rapira Platinum Lux or the Rapira Stainless.
I'll start one if it doesn't exist by the time I get one. But don't wait on me. Somebody open the Order for business!
SOTD August 21, 2015 Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Energizing Face Wash Boost Razor: Mongoose B3 Dr. Bomber Handle Blade: Feather Pro Guard Brush: Omega 10098 Lather: Tiki 1920's Barber Shoppe Post: Alum. Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate Aftershave: Fine American Blend Mongoose/Feather Pro Guard combination allows for me to shave along my jawline without any irritation. This combination is IMO pretty darn smooth! I do look forward to trying a more aggressive blade once this blade has become dull. The Dr. Bomber handle serves me well, I see no reason to replace it. Clint was right when he said make sure you use a good hydrated, slick lather. My last pass I was a little lazy and a bit dry unti my first stroke, the brush needed some water. The Mongoose is truly a joy to use. Tiki 1920's is wonderful! I love the scent. I'm going to be using this Omega 10098 until I feel it's broken in, which could be a long time. I think I ran out of my Axe face wash my wife bought at the dollar store, she got like 10+. Now I'm using a different Axe product, it has little pieces of sand in it? Or something like it. I noticed while reviewing some older posts that you used Noxzema as a prep a while back and that you aren't using it any longer. I just started using it as part of my preshave routine. Can you enlighten me on your experience with Noxzema and what caused you to move away from it? Did you find something that worked better for you? Thanks!
