Look how I can't break away from my Stirling soaps - every day for almost two weeks they're the only ones which I'm using. Something tells me one day I'll be doing a lot of PIFng, because my stash is INSANELY huge. The Black Ice soap has a really nice black liquorice scent which is very similar to the Glacial Obsidian, only much milder and not nearly as intensely-cold in the menthol sensation but still quite strong. Its skincare is typically Stirling - in other words, it's so soothing and comforting. I love the scent and the cooling feeling of the Floid Classic, but the wife says it's too powdery and "grandpa" but I disagree!

How do you like that Bay Rum?

 

Love it. Not too sweet or clovey. Just a clean Bay Rum scent. It can be hard to find in stock though, so if you see it I recommend that you grab it! I have a bottle of the Bay Rum Lime too. Like its brother, It's excellent

 

How would it compare to Captains Choice Bay Rum?

 

Well, scents are very subjective, but I would say that the Dominica is not as spicy, which makes the scent less cloying to my nose. It's a more pure, clean scent than the CCBR. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate the Captain's Choice 7.5 and the Dominica a 9. Dominica is far and away my favorite of the half dozen or so Bay Rums that I've used.

The Arko Stick Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Bethleham Olivewood Silvertip brush. Two passes with my Gillette President razor and a Personna SS blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Yeah, too early this morning to even think of putting anything sharp next to my face. But.....to make up for it.....tomorrow will be the inaugural shave with the Mladost II!! Think of the possibilities....a vintage Soviet razor with a Russian blade against two days of growth. Glorious shave ahead comrades!

+1 on both the regular and lime versions. This one is my favorite of all the BR aftershaves that I have on my shelf and own 13 different Bay Rum AS. Do not know if the current version is the same as the batches before they ran into a fungus issue with the Pimenta Racemosa trees which decimated the crops late '13 early '14 and pretty much halted production. I assume production is the same but haven't bought a new bottle as I stocked up in late '13 and cant compare the two.

Took a break from Tabac to try the Cella. I love that almond scent! Lather great for first shave with it. I figure once I have some time with it and get it dialed in right. It will become a top three for me, I hope any way.

A bit off topic, I guess. But...I'm a bit ticked off at Gary's sample shop(I think that's the name). When I first started wet shaving, I ordered a sample of Cella from him. It was brown and smelled of dirt/playdoh kind of. It had to have been rancid when he sent it. Kind of jerk move to send a newbie bad product.
