I want to apologize in advance if this should be on the blades sub forum. I just didn't see it as an option so I posted here. On the topic. I was wondering if anyone else noticed the new Dorc ST 301? Or if anyone cares. The ST 300 has left a bad reputation behind. Haha. Above is the old blades and below is the new. They even feed from opposite ends now. I thought maybe I flipped the paper label. I will be trying them out tomorrow and taking notes as to the details . Sharpness, longevity, etc. I will posts my findings.
Tuning in out of curiosity. I won't be giving up on my Astra SPs anytime soon, but I'd be interested to hear if Dorco improved these.
I'm hoping they did also. I tried the ST 300 and didn't care for them at all. I tried them because my local dollar store sells them 2 packs for a dollar. The ST 301 I can across in an indoor swap meet that sells them for a dollar a pack. When I saw the new packaging I thought I would give em another try.
Dorco 301ST is a blade I have only tried once. And after a few strokes with too much tugging I told them they had to go. With a little more patience they would probably work. But again, there are far better blades out there and I saw no reason to go on But as always, YMMV
Hi all, Sorry tall ships, I haven't used those blades yet so I can't compare these to those. I would be happy to send you a pack of these if you'd like to try em. Onward to the review. The weapons in this mornings arsenal was of course the newly packaged ST -301. 1968 Gillette super speed. C.O. Bigelow cream and my boar brush from my VDH kit. Dial set on 3, WTG, XTG & ATG with touch ups. Very smooth, no tugging. No skin irritation. No nicks or cuts. Not very close though. I believe it is due to the low setting. I will set it on 5 tomorrow. My usual for most is 7 with my SS Adj. So far it is much better than the ST -300 for me and better than the last time I used the old packaged ST-301. But I also more experience under my belt. I will post again tomorrow. As a side note I emailed Dorco in San Diego and asked about the packaging blade etc. I will post reply when received. The website also has a nice looking gift quality box set on sale . If I turn out to like these blades they can be bought upto quantities of bricks of 1,000. Only $55 US and free shipping. They also have some type of a monthly shave club. I didn't check if it was DE or cartridge only. Thanks for the interest everyone.
One current promo that I just got: use code "DCustomers" and get $20 off plus free shipping when you spend $50 (which will get you a HECK of lot of razors.) Not to blow my own horn, but I used a similar code about a year ago to buy a lot (40 or so, iirc) of disposable razors for a local homeless shelter. Just an idea for someone. edit: code good until 8/28.
Wow ! Now thar would be a sharp price point per blade. If you save $20 from the $55 for the 1000 blade brick. Maybe someone good at math could figure out the price per blade with that deal.
Thank You for the offer Napalm, but for the time being I'll stay with the blade I have for now. There are far too many blades in my draw that I haven't tried yet. I use my Personna Reds all week and try an in the draw blade on Saturdays . Denis
