Don, Gary did a fantastic job! This brush is special, he added weight to the handle so it doesn't feel like a toy. I'm very thankful of the craftsmanship of Burma Shave. :)

Wow! Procol Harum. I haven't heard them in, longer than I care to admit. I'm sure there are folks here that have never heard of them. Thanks for the memories from one ol salt to another.:happy069:

Italy goes to the Bazaar, my Monday shave, 24 August

RazoRock Mission Razor (keep reaching for it, the one with the best audible feedback of my lot)
    Bolzano blade
My newly acquired RazoRock Chubby Extra Silvertip brush
And also a recent acquisition, the Brisa de Oriente, Eastern Breeze, soap from Jabonman. (Those familiar with him may also notice my absolute favorite underneath it, The premium Vetiver de Haiti soap. Lather wise, I haven't landed yet, but in terms of smell, the latter wins)
Finished off with organic 100% Shea butter (in order not to be messing about with the lovely soap scent - which stays with me quite a while!)

Fabulous shave, down to each single element.

And, I should add, good to be back online. Hope you have all been well, enjoying summer and vacation!?

Nice looking Black Beauty. Are they considered mild shavers?

Thank you! It shaves about the same as my Slim. I set all my Adjustables the same and on 5 they give me a nice close shave. I do switch to 3 for ATG on my neck, for a great shave. I've heard the the Black Beauties with the plastic base are less consistent, with the adjustments.

    Tuesday 25.08.2012

This evening I wanted to try something new. More of a necessity than an actual want, but since the alternative would be a no shave Tuesday ( I don't like those days) I figured I would give it a shot.
The thing I am talking about is a wet towel shave, and not showering before shaving.
The procedure was simple. I start washing my face, I apply a wholesome amount of Proraso's pre shave lotion and let that work its magic for five to ten minutes. I then soak a towel in hot water and put that on my face for an additional five minutes.
The result was an astonishing.. meh.
My beard was prepped enough for a decent shave, and I got a DFS out of it, but it is safe to say that I prefer showering before hand. But it will work just fine in a pinch.

I picked out my sample of Stirling soap for this evenings shave. This sample was generously pif'ed me from Mr. Ryan B back in 2014. It is a fine soap with a pleasant scent. It lathers up beautifully after just a 20 second swirl on the puck. My only problem today was that the brush held to much water and ought to be shaken a few more times prior to loading. But that's just me looking for issues.

The Gillette Super Stainless blade was on its third shave, and shaved just as good as before. I am very happy with this blade.

    Razor: Gillette Super Speed
    Blade: Gillette Super Stainless
    Brush: Frank Shaving Favourite Badger
    Soap: Stirling Barbershop
    Pre-Shave: Proraso
    Aftershave: Proraso

Brush: Fendrihen Silver Tip Badger Faux Horn Handle 22/49

Excellent 3 pass shave tonight. #7 setting seems to give me a close comfortable shave. Gillette After Shave Lotion is a nice change.

This is the story I received from a relative of the owner, and a picture of the ship and store where it was found. I love all of the history of the things we use.

    OS Ship

Good evening Don. Thanks for picking up this old glass ship. It was one of the few odd things we found while cleaning out the basement of the old store. While most items we found like entire boxes of vintage glass pill bottles, medicine droppers and such. This odd ball item was just sitting there on a lower shelf as if it was hiding for some strange reason for decades. I really have no idea of its age or how/why it ended up sitting in the basement. While the fragrance Old Spice has been around for ages and it is completely possible he was the one who used its contents. I don't recall Sherl ever smelling of it. LOL. Then again he closed the store in the old building while I was still a toddler.

During my younger years I remember him as that crazy guy at Kmart wearing white lab coat when my mom would go in to pick up some prescriptions. He would always come up with some small toy he had stashed away behind the counter. He'd reach behind the register, grab up a toy, pay for it and reach down over the counter to hand it to me with that GIANT smile he always had on his face.

Hope this item brings a grin to your face when it arrives and for years to come once on display with your collection.

    - Daniel.

    PREP: MUSGO REAL OAKMOSS
    RAZOR: GILLETTE TECH
    BLADE: DIPLOMAT (2ND SHAVE)
    BRUSH: EVER READY 600
    SOAP: STIRLING BRITTISH LEATHER
    POST: OSAGE RUB/ FLOID BLACK:Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily:

SORRY ABOUT THE SIDEWAYS PICTURE. MY PHONE SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN. THE SCENT FROM THE BRITTISH LEATHER REALLY EXPLODED ONCE IT WAS LATHERED, AND MORPHED INTO A SWEETER TYPE LEATHER. VERY NICE. I'M NOT TOO SURE IF I CARE FOR THESE BLADES BECAUSE IT SEEMED LIKE THERE WAS A LOT OF PULLING, BUT THE END RESULT WAS PRETTY SMOOTH WITH LITTLE IRRITATION. THE FLOID BLACK FEELS GREAT ON THE SKIN AND IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES OF THE FLOID LINE. HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GREAT SHAVE AND A GREAT DAY!!
