August 25, 2015 Adjustable August 30-Day Focus - Gillette Adjustable Slim / Fatboy Morning shave. (Back to work - arrrrgh!) Hot Shower Soap: Arko (homemade travel stick) Brush: Butterscotch Fauxmere 24mm synthetic Razor: Gillette Slim Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1) After Shave: Proraso Green Slim settings at: 7 - WTG 7 - ATG No touch-up or repeat strokes. This is as much about technique as it is about finding the best settings on the razor for me. This month has gone by so quickly as I've tried to learn the Slim and attempt the same with the FB. I've gotten very nice shaves all month. Given the time left in the month, I'm going to try to attempt a quick comparison using a mini 8-shave Rule, alternating every two shaves between the Slim and FB. Shave 1 Fatboy (8/22 - two-day growth) - first pass, solid. I continue to notice a good deal of audible feedback, as with both adjustables, in my brief experience with them. I rotate higher onto the cap, Close shave. FB feels very comfortable in my hand. noise lessens. - second pass, AOK. Focusing on blade angle (which for me is minding the cap placement and relative angle of handle to cheek - it seems just below perpendicular) Close shave. FB feels very comfortable in my hand. Shave 2 Fatboy (8/24 - two-day growth) - first pass - dared myself to almost go right to the top of the cap, so very shallow angle. Noise reduced from previous shaves, whisker reduction good. - second pass - same angle. Very close, comfortable pass. Shave 1 Slim (8/25) 1st / 2nd pass - with two good shaves on the FB, I used the same routine on the Slim - same blade angle and had very similar results - very close, comfortable shave. Just a minor patch of stubble beginning to reappear at the jawline 8 hours later. Cheers! RT
In all honesty, if you saw anything glowing that normally doesn't glow, chances are there is some damage. You should make your insurance company aware, as the damage may be more extensive than is obvious now.
I have a few of those moments! Stuff at the house isn't too bad, the 125 VDC at work will bite a bit. I've also seen a few wires at work turn into short lived lights, but they don't last too long.
My lightning rod is a grounded metal roof. I found out that the strike actually hit the power cable from the pole to the house and traveled through my wiring. The electrician checked and only had to replace 2 outlets.
August 26 Shave 16 I took the razor back through the pasted stops and that seemed to make a difference. Three passes with the SR and just two small weepers then I finished up with my Joris DE. I applied the alum after the shave and..... surprise no stinging. In addition to the irritation free shave it was BBS too. The BBS finale is courtesy of the DE but I without a good first three passes the BBS is not possible. Maybe it was the old school theme, Tabac, SR and Clubman???? I know many people give advice to not chase BBS because of the irritation but my usually BBS and no irritation go hand in hand for me. If I get irritation I also do not get BBS. You are very fortunate no one was hurt and very little damage done. I had a next door neighbor whose house was struck some years back. A couple of the rooms smelled of smoke and needed to be rewired. He too was blessed where it counted. No one was hurt.
Welcome back from the cruise! My wife and I took an Alaskan cruise in April, 2014. Loved it. I wasn't wet shaving then, so I didn't have to give anything up. I used to just take a small can of Barbasol and a cartridge razor with a few shaves on it. Don't know what I'll do when I travel now.
