......................................... Had such an awesome weekend! We went to Geek'd Con in nearby Shreveport. "A celebration of all things Geek"2 There were comic books, witty t-shirts, toys, video games, a 3d printer, an occulus rift, celebrities, people in costumes, people practically not in costumes , and just about anything else you could think of that would be described as part of "Geek Culture." I even got to meet one of my inspirations, the voice of Wakko Warner! I told him how my half-passable impression of him in high-school probably kept me out of more than a few fights, and so he asked me to do it for him. (I bet he listens to a thousand bad impressions a day at these things), but he was kind enough to tell me that "It was more than passable" and "if anything should ever prevent {him} from working as Wakko,{I} would be the guy to call!" I know he was just being kind, but it was still a cool thing to hear from a childhood hero.
I just finished up my Monday by chasing six 4 year old boys around a tiny soccer field. Then, I had a luke warm shower (no cold water shower for me ) using some Stirling Glacial Wintergreen bath soap to help cool off. For a Monday, it has been a great day.
Thank you. Sorry I was slow. I missed this post. Everyone is a little brighter now. The boy is the only one still fully under the weather. But he's a tough little cookie. He's a year and a half old now, and this is the first time he's been ill.
Yesterday: Really super productive Today: Meh. Sure, it's only 9:08am but sometimes you get a feel about a day early on...this one might be a write-off Working from home today so might just take some time to polish some razors in the afternoon
These next two days are going to suck. I have orientation for a job at 5 tomorrow night which will last 4 or 5 hours, and have to be back Thursday at 6:15 in the morning. The drive is 150 miles round trip.....ahhh the things we do for a paycheck lol. It beats being unemployed so I'll put up with it plus it pays per diem so that's always nice.
Officially a matriculated student, with under 20 credits to go to graduate, barring oddities of transfer credits.
We're all housebound today...again. There is a nasty fire in the states and we are getting hit hard with smoke. My middle girl is not handling it well. Her eyes are bloodshot and all irritated. For those who know the air quality index, we are currently an 11. Here's a pic of the beautiful downtown landscape. For comparison purposes, I was twice as close to downtown, as I was when I shot the skyline (2 days ago!!) Oh! AND I had a job interview today for a position that I found out is paying less than half I am currently getting from Unemployment Insurance (a Canadian social assistance program for those out of work).
Had a moment of glorious justice to start my morning off. Some guy in a Chrysler 300 cut me off in traffic, nearly clipping my front bumper he was in such a hurry, only to catch the same red light I had to stop for. I then proceeded to follow him for the next 2 miles as he zipped in and out of traffic catching the next 5 red lights. It was a thing of beauty.
Score! Just picked up 6 free tickets to the Louisiana State fair in October. There's going to be a circus, a magic show, and a unicorn. I'm going to be the coolest "uncle" ever.
After filling out all my 'paperwork' yesterday to be a student, I went in today (26 hours later) to finalize what classes I was taking. The system still hadn't recognized my new status; I was told this was because I had only finalized things yesterday, and needed to wait 24 hours before moving to the next step. I know I haven't graduated yet, but I thought waiting 26 hours would fulfill the 'wait 24 hours' requirement.
Yesterday as I was going down the escalator of a subway station, I heard an announcement on the PA saying..'we apologize'..followed by a very long pause. Well this had me puzzled for a while..was that all they had to say. Then I realized that this particular subway complex had been dubbed..The Canada Line. Then it all began to make sense...
A cup of coffee with cream this morning and 1 cup of steel cut oats for lunch held me pretty good all day. Just had maybe 4 oz of leftover hamburger with melted cheese and A-1 on top. Why am I sharing this? I have no idea.
Monday: Productive Tuesday: Total write-off Wednesday: Very productive. I'm thinking I see a pattern if tomorrow is dull.
The wildlifes are starting to have an effect on my breathing, I have asthma as it is add the smoky/hazy air I'm really feeling it. My inhalers can't work fast enough! Still waiting on the results of my wife's biopsy, I've got a feeling they're going to bring her in for another look. Fish for dinner.. The wife is making it, the last time I did fish it went to the cats.
Quiet day today. I read a lot & made a stick of bowstring wax and some soaps (2 fragrances- double mint & lavender/eucalyptus)
