I returned home today after a 3-day men's getaway with nine other church staff members. We all stayed in a nice cabin tucked away in the Sierra pines near Truckee, Ca. Beautiful weather up there this time of year… Spent some quality time together eating great meals, watching some 'guy' movies, playing games, quiet devotional time, plus a few trips here… Three of the pastors are 'gun enthusiasts' and brought along a number of ARs and handguns to share... Me having a go with one of the ARs. Most of the targets were fairly safe….
Overly long staff meeting in a stuffy room after a delicious and filling lunch. It was all I could do to stay awake.
Before I retired, I would invoke the managerial privilege of locking myself in my office for an after lunch power nap.
Dear TSD: I just found out a friend of mine found a Rubberset 400 for $22 yesterday at a nearby antique shop. I haven't gone to this particular shop in over a year because I never found anything there. Is it acceptable to poison his coffee tomorrow morning? Signed, P***ed in PA
More than acceptable. Make sure he brings in the brush first to show you. No sense poisoning his coffee unless you can fondle the 400 prior to your arrest.
Enjoying vacation this week. My daughter is at daycare and I'm just reading TSD and listening to the rain and thunder outside.
It is gorgeous out today- 80 degrees & low humidity. So, needless to say (but I'll say it anyway) I spent the morning at the park, shooting arrows.
Visiting with my parents in Down East Maine (Addison, for those who may know the area). Played 9 holes with my Dad this mo'nin'. Just finished up suppah - lobstah and steemahs. Wicked good! Watching the sun rise from the top of Cadillac Mountain is something my wife has been wanting to do for years. Tomorrow is the day!
My wife a second appointment with a cardiologist today. She now has a portable heart monitor she has to wear for the next month. Still watching her thyroid as well. Should be an interesting month. My 4 year old son has figured out cell phones, and the heart monitor uses a dedicated cell phone to communicate back to the monitoring center. I suspect we will have a few false notifications to them.
