I did the same...never responded to my Mongoose purchase invite. I have over a dozen razors i've yet to use!
I'm doing about 5 injectors myself. We've enjoyed your 'unofficial' posts this month. Glad to have you officially join the shenanigans Chris!
I'm no authority. This month was my first experience with adjustables (Slim and Fatboy). I used one blade type - Gillette Silver Blue - and just raced to '9' to see if I could do it. Towards the end of the focus I wanted to try to compare the shaves of the two razors and just picked '7' as a comfortable place to do so. All shaves at that setting and with that blade were comfortable, close shaves. (for me - YMMV) I would guess that anyone with sound technique, should be able to get a comfortable shave at that setting - with a blade that you have become comfortable with on a mid to aggressive razor. my two cents
Soooo happy to have you here Keith! The time zone issue keeps us from a lot of "real time" chat, but I enjoy your posts and having you provide us non-straight users with a regular, knowledgeable glimpse into that form of wetshaving! RT
Really? In the maritime business where i come from, "ship out" means to say goodbye to something. Didn't you just get your Fatboy?
Thanks for doing all the admin and grunt work for this thread Chris. I hope you realize how many are indebted to you for doing this. You have had a hand in having so many people advance as wet shavers! RT
I appreciate that very much! You guys all have greatly contributed to our little open group here, way more than I ever could! But, thank you!
For me, a setting of 7 provides close, comfortable shaves. I have only used Feather blades in them, though.
When I use my Feather SS, I shave areas certain of my neck using only the first inch or so of the blade. Skin stretching, taking your time, no pressure are obviously key factors too. Sometimes I was simply happy with a WTG attack - it beats irritation and nicks for sure. All things considered, it made it easier to shave those areas without getting nicks and irritation. You might try this technique in your trouble spot. Keep us posted.
Mines on my chin. In the plus side, the feather AC SS is an effective tool for removing old scar tissue.
Using an Old style DE last night. I found myself both riding the cap and not getting enough blade on the whiskers. It's a fine balance.
