I use Derby blades in all my de razors, they work the best on my face, and using the same blade across the board, for me at least, gives me a better feel for the difference between the razors. YMMV, as akways.
Started my focus a day early with a Menthol Monday kick. Proraso green preshave, followed by TSD orange soap with 2x menthol. Used the ball end tech with a Derby, and followed with more Proraso green preshave as a balm and finished with Gables Lime mega bombed (5 drops). After the Slim last month and the Gem break, the ball end felt very mild, but did a great job of taking off the whiskers. A little more touch up than I am used to gave me a bbs with no irritation and no sting from the Gabels. Seems, at least for now, like this focus will be more satisfying than expected. We shall see...
ote="Herm2502, post: 886059, member: 11943"]What year is your tech, if it's marked? Also, how do you like the handle? Is it slippery?[/quote] I have a non dated one, but the one I'm using right now is a 64 I believe. The handle could be a little thicker but the knurling is deep enough that it's not slippery, so it's okay all in all.
I'm seeing a trend develop here... Me three! I'm up for the OCtober OC shenanigans too. But then, I already mentioned that:
Tuesday, September 1, 2015 B-3 Mongoose with Triad Ti Helix Spiral Feather Pro #2 Paladin Chief Strawberry Amber 26X52mm Stirling Soap Glacial Obsidian Alum, Stirling Black Ice Witch Hazel, Gold Bond Green Lotion Stirling Aftershave Sharp Dressed Man The first shave of SEptember was an outstanding 2 pass BBS. I'm feeling in control of the Mongoose finally. I stirred the Glacial Obsidian with the Paladin Chief. Loaded a damp brush with plenty of the Black Ice. Slowly worked up a slick and icy lather. Sterling takes more work than some soaps but the pay off is worth it. Today's lather was so cold it made my eyes water. The alum revealed no irritation at all. The Black Ice Witch Hazel is a face freezer with an outstanding scent. Enjoyed the cool for a bit before a gentle splash of SDM and I'm ready for today.
1959 E3 Gillette Fat Boy on 6 Vulfix Super Badger (660) Georgetown G12 Scuttle Noxzema Proraso Sandalwood cream Pinaud Clubman Shave #1 with the Super-Max Super Platinum in my '59 Fat Boy set to 6. The Super-Max Super Platinum did well in Neal's (NCoxSTL) February focus. 2 Full passes: Pass 1 WTG on my face and XTG on my neck. Pass 2: ATG. Comfortable shave. A near BBS at this point. Did cold water rinse and touch up. Seemed BBS at this point. The Clubman stung a bit but that passed quickly. While a few whiskers woke up along my jawline and neck, they receded gradually leaving my face and neck BBS. I nice BBS shave from the Super-Max Super Platinum in my Fat Boy. I chased the baby a little bit more than usual this morning because the baby seemed so close initially and I expected this blade to do well.
09/01/2015 Razor – Wolfman OC with Triad Helix SS Blade – Feather (2) Brush – Rudy Vey with Shavemac Finest Lather – Soap Commander Renewal Post - Witch Hazel & Myrsol F/Extra A great 3 pass shave this morning. With very few touch ups, I ended up with as near a BBS as I get on most work mornings. I am finding the Wolfman to be very easy to use and super efficient. The Soap Commander Renewal was easy to lather and has a nice clean fresh scent. Finished off with a splash of Myrsol F/Extra.
SEptember Focus Day 1: Homemade PS Oil VDH Boar Brush Mitchell's Wool Fat Injector Type G Stirling Unscented PSB Florida Water AS My first shave with an Injector, and unfortunately I have to report it didn't go well. I played with the angles, but did not get a close shave at all. Luckily, I am heading to a meeting in Houston today and not the refinery, so I am passable, but I'll need to keep working on this for a bit. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know (I am the exception as noted in last month's thread).
SOTD September 1, 2015 Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Energizing Face Wash Boost Razor: Mongoose B3 Dr. Bomber Handle Blade: Kia Captain Titan Mild (6) Brush: Red & Black Acrylic Silvertip 22/50mm Lather: TABAC Post: Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate Aftershave: Folsom & Co. Shambala I'm not sure it can get any better.. Now that I'm in the right mindset of three and out my neck/shaves have been nothing but amazing. So what changed? The Mongoose/blade combo's allowed for a very smooth, efficient and enjoyable shave. Tomorrow I'm going to move on to the Feather SuperPro blade. I didn't use alum today and I didn't need nor miss it. TABAC! you either love it, or hate it. I love it. Shambala. Good stuff. Never let the things you WANT Make you forget the things you HAVE
