Finished my focus yesterday. Shaved late yesterday with the Feather SS to finish up the 30 days, thought I'd just grab a nice "free shave" today with a DE razor and just enjoy the shave before starting September. Set my alarm for 6am as usual, the alarm went off as usual and I realized that, due to the late shave yesterday, I could skip today and sleep another hour instead. So, the debate in my head begins.....shave......sleep........shave........sleep.........this went on for, oh, probably 3 seconds and I set the alarm for 7 and didn't give it another thought. Sometimes, you just gotta sleep. Hope your month ended well. Mine is over, I can say that.

  10. Terrific Tabacstag
Tabac never fails. Another shave featuring optimal lather and easy comfortable BBS. No drama goodness. I paired it with B&M Fougère Classique and they go together nicely. The Fougère has grown on me, I remember not liking it that much at first.

Art of Shaving used to have good soaps, they probably still do, but I have yet to try the newer formulation. This is the older tallow based soap, and it is a magnificent soap. It smells nice (lavender), whips up a good lather and provides for a slick and close shave.
Or at least it usually does. After my Marty McFly moment yesterday, I took it easy and only did two passes. It was still an enjoyable shave, but I probably could benefit from a third pass.
I received a 50 pack of the Indian Wilkinson Sword yesterday and I was eager to give them a try. This was one of the reasons I shaved today after the less than stellar performance of the Futur and Viking Sword from yesterday.

I have read a few reviews of this blade, and the popular opinion is that these are very good blades. My own experience agrees with this sentiment, I found them to be both sharp and smooth, comparable to the green Astra blade if not better. Of course it is too early to draw a conclusion after two passes, but I really liked the way they performed.

  12. WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW - talk about a frozen face. The Glacial Obsidian soap hit me so hard with its menthol blitz, its matching a/s balm is just as cold, (also so soothing!) and the Rubby Dubby Doo really iced me up. Another awesome and very pleasurable shave.

For the past 60 days I have been face lathering. Today I moved back to building the lather in my scuttle. At this point I am unsure why I ever used a scuttle. It seems like more effort for a result which is not better. 60 days ago I wouldn't have believed that face lathering produces just as good, if not better, results. Now I am wondering why I started bowl lathering.

Yes, they do. The green boxes are the knees.

    WD Silver Tip brush
    Vintage Williams SS
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe
    M&L Florida Water cologne

1st use of vintage Williams. WOW! Now I understand the hype about it. Fantastic lather and marvelous shave.
  15. Prep - Shower / Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam
    Razor - Gillette Rocket HD
Blade - Personna Lab Blue (#2)
    Brush - Vulfix 404 handle / Omega 10810 knot
Soap - Arko / Proraso Green / glycerine / mental crystals
After - Frozen towel / Alum & WH Mix
    Result - BBBS

Another phenomenal result with the Lab Blues. I purposely left it a couple of days longer to see how they fared with the extra stubble, and in the Rocket as well.
Stuck with the mental crystals as I always seem to get better results, whether it's psychological or the increased sensation causing caution, I'm not sure. Whatever, the result is Beyond BBS, like I've never had facial hair.

Finished with 1800, then a rub down with gold bond medicated. smooth, cool, tingly, and smellin' nice.
hope y'all did as well, or better.

  20. 9/1/2015 Single Edge September/Tobacco Tuesday!

Prep: Hot shower with Neutrogena Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: CV Heljestrand, CMON Filarmonica Doble Temple straight razor
Blade: GEM PTFE Coated SE blade (3)
    Brush: Vie Long Horse Hair
    Soap: L'Occitane - Cade
After: Home made ASB, Aqua Velva Ice Blue
Cologne: Prada - Amber Pour Homme Intense

I wanted to start out Single Edge September right, so I broke out the CV Heljestrand lather cather type this morning. The Cade was whipped up nicely by the Vie Long brush. The CV Heljestrand with the GEM blade and the Fily did their jobs well. The AV and the Prada were a nice finish for this 2 pass Darn Fine Shave.

    Have a blessed day!
