Love your "working den" MrC! I check out the Amazon listing for your razor rack (test tube holder) from time to time - and most all of the reviews are from wetshavers using the holder like you do! I'll be pulling the trigger on one soon! Thanks for the tip.
Whoa. I am just pretty new to SE razors. I need to get some more Personna GEM blades and then I'll be on board.
I'll be participating with a few SE/injector razors. Coming up tomorrow is my Schick Type F and later in the week I am hoping to use one of my Elgin razors. Later on a Schick Hydro-Magic and some other stuff. Fun stuff.

9/1/2015 Single Edge September Prep: Hot shower with Neutrogena Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO Razor: CV Heljestrand, CMON Filarmonica Doble Temple straight razor Blade: GEM PTFE Coated SE blade (3) Brush: Vie Long Horse Hair Soap: L'Occitane - Cade After: Home made ASB, Aqua Velva Ice Blue Cologne: Prada - Amber Pour Homme Intense I wanted to start out Single Edge September right, so I broke out the CV Heljestrand lather cather type this morning. The Cade was whipped up nicely by the Vie Long brush. The CV Heljestrand with the GEM blade and the Fily did their jobs well. The AV and the Prada were a nice finish for this 2 pass Darn Fine Shave. Have a blessed day!
9/1/2015 Single Edge September Face SOTD Sorry, no pictures today. I just had an extra half blade laying around, so I decided to use the shavette for my face only shave this morning. I actually had my first comfortable 2-pass shave with the shavette today. Usually I can only do one comfortably. Most of my face was actually quite smooth today as well, but for whatever reason I can't seem to figure out the right side of my neck with this thing. Feels ok, but there's visible stubble. Especially strange since I'm right hand dominant and the problem is on my right side. Left side (which I shave with my left hand) ends up fine. Prep: Wash with Neutrogena (cool water) and Nivea Creme Razor: Parker SR1 Blade: Perma Sharp Super Brush: TGN Super Badger Soap: Col. Conk Bay Rum After: Clubman w/ added glycerin
September 1, 2015 Single-Edge SEptember Injectors and perhaps a GEM During this first week, my first with injectors, I’ll look to familiarize myself with them by starting with one that has been described as mild and perhaps move to experiment with others along the aggressiveness spectrum. I’ll be doing SEs all month. Hot Shower, Morning Shave Soap: Proraso Green Brush: Omega Pro 48 Razor: Schick Eversharp Type J3 Golden 500 Blade: Schick Injector (China) (2) TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave Cream: Proraso Green After Shave: Proraso Green Second shave with the J3 - "Golden 500.” Two-pass shave (WTG / ATG). I played a bit with searching for the “best” angle. (A bit subjective, I believe.) @Bama Samurai suggested to use an angle that produces a “Velcro”-type sound. I did find that angle and it does sound as advertised! I eased back on it just a bit to try to smooth out the comfort level. All in all, same result as yesterday, a beautiful shave. In my 4 months of traditional shaving, I do not know if I’ve experienced back-to-back shaves like this before. If tomorrow’s shave is another repeat, I may move on to my next Schick - an I2 which is said to be very similar to the one I’m currently using. Cheers! RT
