Mastro Livi CarboInox, 6/8 Full Hollow, Barber's Notch

This month I brought with me my Mastro Livi CarboInox straight razor. I love this razor and not just for its beautiful and stunning appearance: a san mai blade made of Mastro Livi blue carbon damascus steel in the middle and gold stainless steel in the outside layers. While I was on the go, I stopped by a gas station and I entered the nearby store and, while I was taking a look at the shelves, I saw a bottle it reminded me of my childwood when my aunt used sometimes to buy me what you would now call a "vintage aftershave": Brut Original. I could not resist the temptation: I had open the bottle, smell it and buy it. I must say the fragrance is still the same and, not just because of the memories it gave me, but I really like and, as an aftershave, it is not so bad. It definitely is now part of my aftershave rotation. As for the soap, my shaving soap continues to amaze me and I really love shaving with it, in particular for the post-shave sensation it gives to my skin: round and smooth, a velvety touch. Memorable shave!

Pre Shave- Hot Shower with Stirling Sharp Dressed Man Bath soap
    Stirling unscented Pre Shave Oil

Stirling DE3P2 Razor with Voskhod Blade (3)
    Stirling Synthetic Brush
Stirling Sharp Dressed Man Shaving Soap
    Georgetown Scuttle

    Cold Water Rinse
    SDM Aftershave Balm and Splash

Amazing shave today 3 passes for BBS. I am loving this SDM scent and it is quickly becoming a favorite. Decided to lather in the scuttle today instead of my normal face lather and boy am I glad I did. This thing exploded with thick dense lather. Hope everyone has a great day and a great shave :)

image.jpg Razor: Gillette Ball End Tech NDC (declared 1947) Birth Year
Brush: Vintage Ever-Ready 300L with TGN Silvertip 18/51
Mug: Old Spice (late glass Mug 04) 1970s -1992 The last OS Mugs
    Cream: TOBS Grapefruit cream
    Blade: Feather (1)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Balm, Tommy Bahamas St. Barts cologne
The TOBS whipped up nicely with the Silvertip. The Gillette Tech is a nice mild razor for me even with a Feather blade. Very nice two pass shave with some touchup. Warm water rinse and pat dry. Some WH and after cleanup some JB Balm and then some Tommy Bahamas St. Bart's. Nice shave, y'all have a good one!

For today's shave I picked out what I consider to be some of my favourite items. The soap, Brutalt Bra Barbersåpe (brutally good shaving soap in CONUS speech) can be comparable to MdC. It only takes a few twirls on the puck, before I have an abundance of lather.
If it weren't for the fact that Jabba the Hut sports a pretty mean BBS, I wouldn't be surprised if I would have had enough lather for a one pass shave after just a ten second loading.

The NOS Polsilver blade has been one of my top three blades for a few years now. Its combination of sharpness and smoothness, and also longevity makes this blade one of the best in the known galaxy...

And of course the Merkur 34c, one of my most used razors. I don't have that many, but I suspect that I use this razor 70% of the time. The EJ de89 is closing in, though.

You would imagine that with this setup I would get the best shave I've had in a long time, but it was quite the opposite. Granted, the first pass was a joy, but the trouble started in the second pass. It's like they all started to bicker and fight, and the field of battle was my face. The lather started burning, the blade started nibbling and the razor was just a nuisance.

I put on a pint of Witch Hazel to quell the fire, applied a layer of Skin Food to.. Well I guess, to feed the skin. When that did not help I buttered on a coat of Shea and that may have done trick. I am happy to report that there is once again balance in the schwartz.

I think I will have to take a few days off from shaving to repair the damage.

    Razor: Merkur 34c
    Blade: NOS Polsilver
    Brush: L'Occitane Plisson Brush
    Soap: Brutalt Bra Barbersåpe
    Aftershave: Trumper's Skin Food

Second day with the Valet. Went a little bit better tonight, however, I have to do a major cleanup with the Red Tip. The Valet is sure a noise razor. Anyway got through 2 passes okay.

    Prep: Shower
    Razor: Gillette Old Type
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
    Brush: Omega 10083
    Lather: TOBS Sandalwood Shave Cream
Post: Cold rinse, Alum, Witch Hazel, TSD Sandalwood AS Milk

A very nice and relaxing shave. I knew I had to take it nice and slow. To my surprise, the alum confirmed no feedback.

I think I found the perfect combo for coarse beard shavers or their worst nightmare.

Batch 2 Mongoose with Dr. Bomber handle
    Feather Professional blade (4)
    Shavemac two-band silvertip brush
    Trumper's Coconut cream and glycerin
    Two passes plus touch-ups
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food

I really enjoy using this set up, as it consistently delivers great shaves! The Feather blade on day four felt smooth and was still very sharp. Lather explodes off the Shavemac brush. I started using my travel scuttle again after taking a break from it during August, and the warm lather feels great.

I finished off the shave with Terre d'Hermes parfum. I bet I'm the only guy in Kentucky that used parfum this morning and is brave enough to admit it publicly. :happy068: I hope you all are having a fine week!
