Those Omega boars are still one of the BEST values in shave brushes! :happy088:
I still use the Proraso post-shave balm, but the pre-shave and shave soap from Proraso are long gone. My wife couldn't abide the scent when I used them… :ashamed001:

I' ve gotten used to my shavette during the last 2-3 months, i tried my DE's but they just don't cut it (pun intended) the way my shavette does. The shavette now gives me smoothest and most efficient shave. So cheap...so good :D

The posts have balm was very nice. A great addition to my den. I will always have the green Proraso soap in my den. It always gives me great shaves. Fortunately I really like the scent, and my girl also

Razor - Feather SS Artist Club
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea Original Replenishing Post Shave Balm

The first Sunday of SEptember arrives and my schedule says use the Feather SS. Well who am I to argue with a schedule? Nothing new about me using that razor anyway. However, the blade choice is different. Rather than a Kai Mild, as usual, or even a Feather Pro I'm going to try out a different blade altogether. The Kamisori blade, made in Canada, is a totally unknown item to me. I did track it down on the web to determine it really is made in Canada but I have no idea of quality, performance etc. So, the best way to find out is to load it up and shave with it. What could possibly go wrong?

Before loading it I did compare it to the Kai Mild that I normally use. The Kamisori is on top.
The shape is a bit different and the cutting edge is rounder on the ends. Also, the cutting edge is just a bit shorter on the Kamisori. It almost looks like half a blade instead of being made that way but comes in a dispenser as just a single blade. Well, 25 to a dispenser, so I believe that's just the design that makes it look like a half. When I loaded it I noticed that the blade doesn't extend quite to the end of the razor head at the heel. So, getting up close to ears etc. with the heel might be a problem.

Lathered up the BoSFat and went to work. No issues with the lather at all. First few strokes weren't bad but it became evident that this blade is not as smooth or as sharp as the Kai. It isn't terribly dull, just not the same level as Kai and Feather. It produced a rather comfortable if a bit tuggy shave on two days growth that the Kai goes right through. No cuts though on the first pass so let's try a little XTG. Second pass wasn't bad either, just that feeling of tugging. Not as smooth as I'm used to. Still it got CCS after two with ease and left me to just touch up with a DE to get DFS and have a great shave out of it. No nicks, cuts, weepers. Nothing. I'm going to call this blade a success. Thanks to the Canadians for making a decent blade. Not top of the line but it's less expensive and may help some who can't afford the others.

I am a soap guy, I prefer the notion of soaps, building lather from soap and most of my shaving software is soaps. But every once in a while, I find out about a cream that fancies my tickle. Coates Shaving Cream is one of those.

I read about it here on TSD and learned something about its history, the most important part was that it is pretty good stuff and it is no longer made. I have always been a sucker for discontinued items, so it did not take long before I was reeled in.

I purchased six tubes, one of each scent and they arrived yesterday. The first thing I noticed was the smell. The smell was very potent and six scents mixed into one smell was enough that the whole envelope smelled before it was even opened.
The smell reminded me of a little old perfumed lady with blue hair, which was surprising considering that I have never actually met a little old lady with blue hair. Perfumed or not.
Smelling the tubes separately improved the scent, but only slightly. The overtone was decent enough, but it had a chemical undertone to it that was not that pleasant and moved my whole olfactory system back to the nineties.

For this evening shave, I chose what I deemed to be the least offensive, the tea tree scented cream. Right of the tube it reminded me of the white proraso, but when lathering it the smell transformed to an industrial version of The Body Shops Tea Tree range. I did not particularly enjoy it, but it was far from bad and I managed without screaming Barfolomew

The quality of the lather on the other hand was outstanding. The lather exploded and was thick, creamy and slick. Very nice indeed.

To shave away this lather I used the EJ de89 with a fresh GSB blade. The GSP blade together with at least half a dozen blades, has been on my top five list for a while now. It is a very good blade that I enjoy. But since I really ought to trim down my top five list to just five blades (boring, I know) the GSP will probably have to go. But it is still a very good blade.

    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
    Brush: Frank Shaving:
    Cream: Coates Shaving Cream
    Aftershave: Witch Hazel

Another very good shave this evening with the Valet and 2 passes. Cleanup with the Red Tip, which doesn't feel very aggressive after using the Valet. ;)
