I have tried foam twice (both times about fifteen years apart), and did not have a good experience. However, I guess that I also was biased, having used soap and brush for all my life. Anyway, the Gillette foams I used didn't lubricate enough for me, and didn't provide enough glide. Moreover, adding water made them runny, and the whole experience was messy for me. I do not rule out user error though
Oils; Soaps; Creamed-Soaps; Foam..., whatever works best for you is what it's all about! It's "YOUR-SHAVE" & you should ALWAYS have it YOUR-WAY! AMEIN! But; if you wanna TRY something different, well; "Have It Your Way, STILL!" ( As for me & my house; well, we believe that "Jesus Loves you just the same!") Enjoy!
Not at all. Many shaving foams are excellent. There is a reason Barbasol is the number one shaving foam in the world! The other day I picked up some Brute with Aloe and Vitamin E shaving foam on close out for a buck for a large 9.5 oz. can. It is absolutely wonderful, probably the thickest and richest lather I have ever experienced. I also enjoy Barbasol, but I was surprised to find that the Brute is actually richer and thicker than my old favorite. Gave me a great shave, and I am going back to the store to stock up if there is any left.
From some of the comments I see about water with foams being too "runny", I now see why Rise can be worked without water, if need be(or just for the heck of it, lol). I do cut down on the amount of water I use, as I know my Rise Super Foamy will make up for what isn't there.
